    Lg 50pc3d-ue

    Hello everyone,

My girlfriend recently was given the tv listed in the topic to use for home staging. The previous owner said it didn't work. It sat in our garage for 6 months, and today I decided to plug it in and see if it did anything.

It turns on, but the picture is somewhat dim, and kind of fuzzy it seems. The colours look right I believe. Is there something I can replace on it to bring back the brightness?

    Thank you in advance!

may be the zsus board, have you tested the voltages or the fuse on the xsus? you need to post pics of what you have in hopes someone could spot anything. kind of like saying my car is making a racket and i dont know where its coming from. is the zsus getting voltage? if so how much, if not is the powersupply making the correct voltage to the xsus? usually a dim sometimes purplish tinted pic is from the zsus. if it is the zsus be prepared to open the wallet, unless you can find the affected component and repair it

Thats how it looks currently.. I guess its actually not fuzzy just dim...

I haven't taken the back off it yet, I was reading about checking the voltages in the fuses on the y sus and z sus boards.. I am an electronics nooby though.. If I go to remove the back panel do I have to lay down the tv on its face?

Thank you once again for the help currently!

Yeah, classic bad Z-sustain. The fix is to replace the hybrid module - about US$40 - and the fuse - about 20 US cents. Replacing the hybrid is tricky, requiring good soldering/desoldering skills. It's less common for the Z-sustain to go, usually the Y-sustain goes first, but it might end up cheaper/easier to buy a replacement Z-sustain on ebay.

You'll usually also notice the screen is slow to update, blurry or patchy on movement.

Usually, you will have to remove the stand to take the TV apart, which means it has to be laid down. Sometimes the TV can be mounted on the stand once the case is removed.

              Hey Tom,

              Thanks for the reply!

So the hybrid module is located on the z sustain board? I was looking at the back of the tv (I have the panel off), and the z sustain is apparently on the right side I believe..

Yep, from your picture, Z-sus is right hand side. There are two hybrids on this unit each under a separate heatsink.

Do you have a digital multimeter?

zsus isthe one with the three ribbon cables going to the screen has two heatsinks on it ,which are fairly large. the ysus is on the other side with two buffer boards plugged into it with about 6 ribbons going to the screen

Post a pic of it, I'm sure it's capable.

Oh, and be careful not to touch any of the black heatsinks on the power supply with the unit plugged in. They are LIVE and will give you a nasty shock. Other heatsinks are okay.

its that yellow thing in the first pic.. I picked it up from an auto parts store a while back, for 5 bucks.. It helped me diagnose a bad sensor on my car so I guess it will work!

Looks like a DT830B type, really cheap and nasty, but they are plenty good for troubleshooting (used one a couple of years back and it served me well until I dropped it, couldn't really expect it to survive that though.)

Anyway, set your meter to ohms (200) it's the Greek omega symbol usually.

Disconnect power to the TV and leave it to sit for 30 seconds.

Touch the red and black probes together - note the reading you get (will be 1 - 3 ohms for cheap meters usually.) Don't confuse "1.0" ohms with a single "1" on far left hand side which you'll get if the probes aren't touching. This is your "zero" reading.

Touch the red probe to either end of the fuse, black to the other. Note reading - if fuse is good, it will show the zero reading or very close to it. If it's bad, it will be the same left hand "1" you got when the probes weren't touching.

Repeat for any additional fuses (usually there are two on LG sets.)

Then, secure the black probe for your meter on some exposed metal part of the TV chassis (like the wall mount bracket - a screw hole is good for this.) Then touch the red probe to both ends of each fuse.

                            - If you get a zero reading on any end, then the hybrid is probably at fault.

                            - If you don't, you may be lucky, and it could just be a fuse, which can blow sometimes without an apparent fault.

Replaced Zsus beginning of year as most transistors were short stopping tv powering up.

Now screen flashes on off continually and ZSUS ticks. Looking like replacement maybe faulty or could something else cause it to shut down.

If I remove both tabs from ZSUS to screen but keep all other connectors to ZSUS on then TV boots properly but screen very dark without ZSUS output, no ticking from ZSUS. So it only shuts down when under load from screen.

If it is ZSUS then how to fault find, I already looked for shorts. No transistors shorted or caps and its...

All Voltages are OK except ZSUS 15v.
YSUS board disconnected still 15v missing.
                                          ZSUS was replaced: 15v missing.
                                          Any help will be appreciated...

plasma TV Lg 42w451 - why is the zsus igbts damaged when the ysus is plugged?

                                          Hi all,
I am trying to fix my plasma TV which is not powering on due to damaged IGBTs. I have changed two igbts and 2 IC drivers on the zsus and also two igbts on the ysus.
Now everytime I plugged the ZSUS and the YSUS boards to the power board, the two 30f124 IGBT on the ZSUS are damaged and the TV stays in standby mode. When I plug the ZSUS board alone the TV turns ON but I do not see pictures. When I plug the ZSUS board without the two 30f124 IGBTs and the YSUS board, the TV powers on with a picture.
I am lost, should I change the YSUS board? Is the YSUS board damaging...

LG 60PB6650 - Bad ZSUS (3.8v to YSUS instead of 16v)?

                                          Make and Model: LG 60PB6650-UA
Issue: Turns on, no backlight, can hear static (no channel)

I've been repairing TVs for a couple years now. I know how to use a multimeter for the most part and know how to test most components for shorts.

The power board connects to the ZSUS and then connects to the YSUS. The ZSUS is where I believe the failure is because the 16v line is only 3.8V, even when I disconnect the ZSUS from the YSUS.

This particular model seems to have a common failure with its YSUS. My goal earlier was to prove the YSUS was bad so I could...

LG 60PZ570 - Zsus replaced, still have issues

                                          Hi everyone,

I have had a interest in electronics forever, and as a hobby have tinkered with repairing things, taking them to bits, and so forth.

However, I have a LG 60PZ570 that is causing me to rethink my life!!

I purchased it for $100 as it had no picture, got it home, and it has the classic ZSUS issue, where in the picture is splotchy and dark.

I checked the ZSUS board and determined there were a few blown transistors, fuses, etc.

I looked up the repair kits, but the $70 shipping fee was a bit steep for me (I live in New Zealand)...
