Vizio GV42L Power supply board question

Hello I am new here and have a question. I am not a pro by any stretch, but I've done some repairs in the past. I have a vizio 42" LCD that I got for free. The guy says it just went dead one day. I pulled it apart and found 3 or 4 places on the bottom of the power supply board that indicate burned or bad components. I have found replacement boards, but would like to know what may have caused the issue. The caps look fine, but I have not tested. The burnt components look to be small components, not near caps. I will add some photos when I get to my pc.

Any help or things to check would be greatly appreciated!!

No help at all here? I am considering just replacing the board and seeing what happens.

Yep without pictures we wont really be able to say anything. Are the burned parts on the primary or secondary side of the power supply? (Theres usually a thick white line deviding both sides, the primary is where the big fuse and power cable run to.

Many things can damage the power supply : Poor design (if thats the case the used one could be close to burning out too), lightning, water, overheating from poor ventilation ...
Fixed so far 12 lcd's , 1 plasmas, 5 monitors, 0 dlp's (plan to keep the dlps at 0). and 3 atx power supplies, and 2 motherboards.
