Vizio VW42L Black Picture Great Sound - Side Buttons don't Work except Power and Inpu

I just bought a "Master" Backlight inverter bord and replaced it. I still have the same problem. No Picture although the light on the front has power. I have great sound and funny thing is that the Power button and Input Button seem to be the only buttons that are working.
I have tried all the different Inputs as someone recommended and nothing. I have not checked the T-Conn bord or the fuse as someone else has recommended. Has any one else had this problem?

Most likely it's the main board. The voltage regulators go bad sometimes. If you have a meter you can check them out. I think U33 is normally the bad guy. If I remember right it should have 5.19v in and 3.3v out.

Is the backlight on? The screen will be light blue, the light can also be seen thru hole in the back of the panel. If it is on either the main board or the T-Con is probably bad. If it is off,and the master inverter was new, the slave inverter would be the next place to look. Check to see if the fuse is blown (small ceramic with brass end caps near cable connection). If it is blown the mosfets and controller should be replaced. Kits are available on eBay. Service manual listed elsewhere in the forum will give voltages on the main board DC-DC section so it can be checked.

I had a similar problem on a samsung (known to be good), the problem was the power button was stuck in it's travel slightly, a large round button which traveled about 2 mm in a slightly larger hole, which caused the other buttons not to function, and the tv did not display any error codes, just hung in the wanting to power up state, the fix was to clean and lubricate the button itself and the holder, for lack of a better term, which the button travels in and all button functions returned to normal and TV works fine again, might want to check the switches for proper release

I have the same problem with the button issue. But i need to know if u33 was the mainboard.if so i found mine but dont know where the input, output pins are and dont know where to put the negative probe at. Also when i have tinkered with the buttons and got them to function again. I still have a right half screen blue vertical line hue going on. I have already taken a t-con board from another same model and tried it to no avail. My next question makes me wonder about the t-con though. Are the main boards compatible if the board numbers are the same except the last number. They are the same tv model's.

Vizio E241i-a1 - works, but OSD stuck and no buttons work
            by bobbyskillz
Hello, experts! I have a weird issue I've never seen before. I know some of you have definitely seen this. I think some have seen in. I'd greatly appreciate any advice you can give me.

I bought a E241i-a1 to use as a monitor. It powers on, displays the image, and has sound. I just can't get the OSD to go away. The TV doesn't respond to any input from the remote contol or buttons except for the power button. Is this a firmware issue? I can't access settings to reset it. A quick search for the firmware has no results. I'm lost. Please throw some ideas at me.

            Thanks for...

            Vizio M65-C1
            by mrtek
            Hi.

picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED...

            Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

            Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...
