  • Dell Studio 1737 PP31L - LED error codes

I ordered a replacement main board for my Studio 1737, installed it and I get 4 orange then 1 green flash from the LED at power plug. The original board still works, I am using it to type this post. The new board lights the power switch, spins the DVD and HD for a second or two, no noticeable backlight activity and no LCD image either, and then goes into the flashing LED sequence. Put old board back in works as it should.
Anyone know what the 4 orange then green flashing means?
    Cheers

  • Re: Samsung HLN567WX Display Issues

    Hi
the new wheel was a direct replacement, ordered for this tv, i was thinking there was some sync problem, the lines do sort of follow a rotation, like catching the edge of the color wedge
Thanks for all the test points! Thanks again, I will put it into service mode and check it out
    Cheers

  • Samsung HLN567WX Display Issues

    Hi everyone

rescued this rear projector from the land fill as it was not a crt, tv actually worked after recapping power supply, picture was a bit dim and fuzzy so I opened it up further and found that the color wheel had disintegrated, but had enough shards left to actually work, just sounded like a 747. swapped it out and now I get this as a display, wierd rippling across the screen(pictured). Hard to describe, the pictures show up ok, these lines just go down the screen on any input, the TV menu shows up great no ripple. All voltages are right on as per specs and nothing seems...

  • Re: Hitachi 55VG825 Ballast testing

    Hi
swapped out the ballast and TV runs perfectly. Hard to say if it was the ballast all along or light damaged in shipping, but have lots of ballast hanging around,so it works thanks for all the input!!
    Cheers

  • Re: How much I charge for repairs, How about you?

In my area there is no repair shop per say, and you are looking at prices in the $ 400 range for easy fixes like power supply, fuses(dirty power and spikes a plenty) so most people toss them out, I get the vast majority from the e-waste drop off center, they let me grab whatever I want, as long as it doesn't come back scavenged. So there many e-waste drop offs in the area, and I have a drop routine so none are the wiser. I live in cottage country and most cottages are in the 1 million $ range so to them tossing out a 50" plasma...

  • Re: Hitachi 55VG825 Ballast testing

    Hi
I was thinking too much power too. here are some pics of the bulb, this is the OEM and the replacement looked the same.
I quess I will have to start checking voltage regulators in the ballast to see if one is letting too much voltage through
the replacement came from the distributor with the void if removed sticker already damaged so I am kind of stuck if it is damaged from transport....

  • Re: Hitachi 55VG825 Ballast testing

    Hi
    thanks for all the responses:
Yes the original bulb blew the filament, shattered inside the bulb. The replacement bulb went in fine, good connection and powered up fine and then did the same thing: filament shattered in the bulb within 30 seconds, then i noticed the gas discharge tube glowing, i was looking to see if the foperating, thinking over heating, but they were working. The door switch was rigged closed as I had the back cover off for cleaning(and I am curious)
I will try to find out how to reset the hours

  • Hitachi 55VG825 Ballast testing

    Hi everyone

I have an Hitachi 55VG825 55`rear projector that blew a bulb, it was the OEM bulb from 2005, so it was not that unexpected that it would go, got 3200 hours of it so not too shabby. I ordered a replacement bulb and installed it and within 30 seconds it blew, and since I had the rear cover off I noticed that the gas discharge tube was lighting up every few seconds. Ballast`s are somewhat out of my normal line of repairs and was wondering if there anyone knew how to troubleshoot the power without a scope or high voltage adapter for my meter.

    Tv is in great...

  • Re: Hard drive PCB for data recovery

    Hi
so unless i lay out the $ 15k for the recovery hardware(sold a few kilometers away) or $ 1200 for seagate to do it the data is probably lost.
I did find a matching hard drive speed , model, part # and firmware, only difference is serial number, should i even bother buying it. Even a slight chance at recovering the data(childrens pics) is better than nothing. seagate sent me a replacement drive, so i can't be desoldering eeproms unless I am very careful and do it so they don't detect it.
    thx

  • Hard drive PCB for data recovery

    Hi everyone

I have a seagate ST9250410AS with a bad controller, according to seagate support and the diagnostics they gave to run and the error codes generated the platters are fine as is the data, just a bad PCB, they can recover the data for $ 1200, which i don't have. So i found a PCB with same firmware except it is from a 5400 rpm hard drive, where as mine is a 7200. Are they compatable, for at least long enough to pull my data?

  • Hitachi 55VG825 blowing bulbs

    Hi everyone
Got this 55" projector for free, said bulb needs replaced, so replaced the bulb and it worked for a few minutes then blew the bulb, so i pulled the back cover off and saw this component(in pic, circled) glowing every few seconds, and squaking while it cycled on. Couldn't find the schematics for the lamp ballast anywhere, and haven't pulled the power board out yet.
Any ideas on why this glowed, or any help on direction without schematic would be great.
    Cheers...

    Apple G4 locked out

    Hi everyone
I found an perfectly intact apple G4 in the dump and I can't get by the user password, I do not (previously) own a mac so I really do not know what to do to get by it, or reset it .
I was wondering if, like in windows, I can assume ownerships of the harddrive from another mac and maybe put a new administrator password in to use the computer.
It is mac OS X, can't tell any more than that as it will not go farther than the login, and i can't seem to get into any bios.
    any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Cheers

  • Re: Sanyo dp46848!!

those caps don't look like they were marked, look like they are venting drive plasma scotty(lol), hit them with a magnifying glass or usb microscope and look for a fracture in the metal cap, then trace down the culprit that blew them

  • Re: Sanyo HT30744 Green Screen

after resolder, retension the connectors on circuit board side so they have a bit of pressure on the CRT's pins, dielectric grease helps too in case it does come loose a bit it can't arc. Also may want to rig someway to relieve some pressure on the harness/cir cuit board assembly it self so the whole weight is not depending on the CRT pins to hold it up , putting the rear cover back on can sometimes knock the wires around. I usually look for some way to tie wrap(not super tight) the harness onto the CRT- but be careful, there is enough voltage in a...
