Can you post a picture of the topside and bottom side of your main board please Jasgriff and a close up of the eeproms/Atmel chips locations.

Now I know why I am getting confused. It's Techamps pictures in post 9 I have been looking at ARRGGGGHHHHH!!
Could someone please remove Techamps posts? If he is still interested in getting help then he can make his own thread!Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
Going by a close up of your pictures your main board is a BN41-00813E-LP1.0 (it's written in white in the top left corner on the top side of the mainboard) Can you confirm this.
This is the same main board as is used in the LE40M87BDX (you also have the same power supply as the LE40M87BDX going by your pics)
The main board you would expect to see in the LE37A556P1F is the BN41-0094A. If you do end up going down the route of having to change the main board this is a possible replacement as well as the BN41-00813E.
For your board (BN41-00813E) It looks like the eeprom chip you want to be trying to reset or replace is located at IC1803. Find this and tell me what the serial number is.
BN44-00974B is the mainboard.
IC3106 = ATMLH820 0281 28F5509D is the one that I have as being the one that needs shorting.
This is the one closest to the 100ohm Resistors
There are 3 of those same Atmels on the underside of the mainboard.Leave a comment:

Don't lose hope yet, I am googling away here, lol.
Can you tell me which of the chips you tried to short? All the ones beginning with ATM are eeproms.Leave a comment:

If the numbers aren't the same I wouldn't short those out! I am pretty sure the back up of your eeprom is stored on a similar chip and if you blank that your going to need to replace the mainboard or pick up a faulty board that you can retrieve the back up from.Last edited by py3m4n; 03-04-2012, 09:05 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
I wasn't aware this was also a problem on the 5 series and from what I read it isn't. Here's hoping this turns out to be a case of 'don't believe everything you read on the internet'. Any 5 series I have replaced caps on I have never had to replace the eeprom on the mainboard. I have only had to do it with the older R series, although I know it does happen on the M series and S series LCD's and Q series plasmas.
If your handy with a soldering iron I wouldn't waste your time trying to reset it, your better off just replacing it, save yourself the grief of possibly ending up with some functions still corrupted and or picture problems on some inputs.
The Atmel AT24C256B is no longer manufactured so getting your hands on one for a sensible price will be difficult. There are sellers here in the U.K selling them on Fleabay but they are asking £2 with £1.50 P+P!!
I have found a comparable epprom for replacing the AT24C256B but I am not sure if it will be alright. Can anyone with more knowledge tell me if it would be a good replacement. It's a Microchip 24LC256-I/P. The only difference I can see is the clock rate is 2Mhz instead of 1Mhz. Should be good but it's always best to ask before going and buying a pile of them!
Remember to let us all know how you get on Jasgriff. I too am keen to find out if this does occur with the 5 series Sammys.
Edit: Forgot to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
The remote still seems to work the tv as the standby light seems to be doing all of the right things just nothing else really seems to be happening with it.
I am going to try again a few more times to see if I can get it going.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
Uhm... in post #8 you said it was a BN41-00974B "EMMA" board, which is what I searched for !?
edit: wait a second... the mainboard picture in post #9 says it's a BN41-00813E "BORDEAUX PLUS" (codename) in the top left corner (above the CI card slot.. where the white arrow points to).
Searched for that and found a few boards. Apparently, this board or a slight variation of it was used in the LExxM86BD and M87BD series TVs. Those had problems with a corrupted user-settings EEPROM (just like the R88 series) on the board, preventing them from being turned on.
I've attached a marked pic of the backside of your mainboard. Could you list what it says on the marked 8pin chips?
One of them should be a 256KBit EEPROM, usually from Atmel.
It should say ATML in the first line, and either "(AT)24C256B" or "2EB1" in the 2nd line.
Resetting that (or replacing it) could bring it back to life. I remember that when I played with the service menu settings on my Samsung too much, it wouldn't turn on anymore (LED blinks a few times, then goes steady (standby mode))
Had to reset the EEPROM to get it to boot properly again.
Tell me if you found it.. the reset procedure is a bit tricky, but unlike buying a blank replacement, it's free
edit: the BN41-00813E board is quite a bit more expensive *click*

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
From what Scenic has shown and from googling away you come to realise that this board and it's variations have been used extensively in Samsung LCDs and Plasmas from 2006 - 2008. So replacing the eeprom should solve your issues.
Edit: Same goes for Techamp if he is still reading this thread. From what he has said replacing the eeprom will solve his issues too.Last edited by py3m4n; 03-03-2012, 06:35 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
http://ebay.co.uk/itm/290677868206
It says it's for the LEM87BDX, and the other auctions I found also listed it for the M86/M87 series or the BN41-00813B (slight board variation) for a PS42Q96HDX plasma.
The LE__A556 seems to share the same mainboard, with the same problems.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
Most of the time it's from Atmel, so it will have ATML followed by a cryptic datecode in the first line.
2nd line should be either (AT)24C256B or "2EB1" (which is Atmel's cryptic way of saying it's a 24C256B)
You need to short out the clock and data pins (pin 5 and 6). Even without the datasheet handy they're easy to identify cause they always have 100ohm SMD resistors connected to them. Otherwise see attached pic.
Solder 2 relatively long wires to those pins and put the board back in place and connect it all up. Plug the powercord in and when it tries to start up (blinking power LED), short those wires for a few secs. Might take a few tries. Unplug the set, remove the short and grab your remote.
Now plug it in again. It should stay in standby.. If not, try turning it off (solid LED).
Then start the TV up in service mode. You do this with the remote. In order, press INFO, MENU, MUTE, POWER. The TV should start up and display the service menu on top of everything else.
Go into the "Option table" menu, make sure "Tuner" is set to AUTO and "Store Demo" is OFF (use the arrow keys and enter, menu button goes back).
Then do a Factory Reset. TV should turn off after a while.
That should be it. Attached a few demo screens of the Samsung service menu I last saw. Yours should be similar. If not, take a few pics and post them.

Re: Samsung LE37A556P1F Flashing red light
If that's the case, there's a matching board available on ebay UK for 27 pounds incl. shipping
ebay # is 270923709503
(copy & paste that number into the search)
There are a few more but the one above happens to be the cheapest one and has roughly 1 day left.
The item number you sent across is a similar one but that has 3 hdmi sockets where as the one that's in it has 3.
I have a second board that again looked similar but did not work.
If you see any other please send me the item numbers and I will have a look.

by Phil289Hi
I aquired a Samsung UE46EH5000 from a lady that said it was turning on and off so she just purchased a new one.
On plugging into the mains and turning on i get a solid red light.
On using the on/off button or remote i just get a flashing red light in a pattern of flash/flash gap flash/flash gap flash/flash etc.
Opened it up and disconnected the main board from the power board by removing the connecting ribbon cable with the hope of getting either a 'no backlight' or a 'working backlight' but got neither,i just got a blinking backlight that turned on and off randomly... -
by esqmoooHello everyone.
This is my development machine. I've been using it since two years and half without any problem except sometimes it wouldn't wake up from sleep.
Lately the issue became more frequent and powering it up would take few seconds to show the POST screen.
Then the computer refuses to power on at all. Now only the caps lock button flashes 7 times then stops. The charging light is always on whenever a power source is connected (battery or charger).
I tried long pressing on the power button, after several seconds it would go off then when the button is released... -
by JackchingI know for sure it has a bad cap and one cold solder joint. Just wondering before i order the Caps if anyone has any experience with this model? Just making sure there isnt a common component that goes bad besides the caps....
