Sharp IT-23M1U TV LCD, flashing distort

I just got a Sharp IT-23M1U LCD TV monitor with a problem. I would click the main power button and the power LED lights up green right away but it doesn't come on right away. After around 45 seconds the screen would turn on (screen is still black but lights up a bit) 15 seconds after it turns on, the distortion comes on for a second and would flash on and off every 4 seconds.

I'm not sure if this may or may not be a circuit problem. Would this be a problem on the video board? Whats weird is that it still displays (MONO) on top of the screen clearly. I'm still trying to figure out how to remove the back panel to check out the circuit boards but still having a hard time.

Elektrotanya has the service manual. Disassembly instructions start on page 19.

Can't really help much at the moment, but I'd suspect a mainboard problem.

I've seen a very similar fault on a LG LCD TV before.. couldn't really find any info on the net about this sort of problem, so I ended up not buying the TV despite it being dirt cheap. It also had weird multicolored pixel-salad on the screen with the OSD showing up normally (no distortion etc.). I'm VERY curious to see what causes this.

Thank you!! I've been looking for the service manual and couldn't seem to find one. It was a pain taking it apart because of all the screws, but I made it to the mainboard.

I provided two photos of the same mainboard (the same board I just zoomed in half and half to get a better quality)

I found an oddly placed resistor in the first photo, I just found it weird, don't know if its relevant.

All the caps look normal and seem fine to me. I've checked all the fuses and I think I found a blown one (as shown in the second photo), couldn't get a read off the multimeter and no continuity. Lucky me I happen to have extra fuses of the same type! =)

Should I check anything first before replacing the fuse and where should I start (still new to circuits) I don't wanna replace it only to have it blown again.

That blue resistor with a bit of orange tack? That's a bodge job - but it's fairly common in consumer electronics. Boards are expensive, one component might be faulty (misplaced for example) so they bodge them on. Or, they might design a board but discover a problem later when they are released and they don't have the time to re-spin the board.

I think the fuse is the problem as it powers some video decode stuff. Worth a shot.

A bodge job? Does it usually come directly out of the manufacturer? Well I replaced the fuse and that did it! =) Its working perfect now.

But just curious, what are the causes of a blown fuse? Usually when a fuse gets blown from excess current wouldn't it get blowned again? Or could it be due to aging and eventually got weaker and wore off.

Yes, the manufacturer pays people to fix the boards that don't work. Far cheaper than throwing away a £50 board.

            Glad you fixed it.

Essentially, it is thermal wear. It is common on T-con boards too for the fuse to blow, with no fault on the board itself.

Sharp Aquos Lc-80LE757U flashing Sharp on screen when plugged in
              by sefoster
I have a Sharp Aquos LC-80LE757U that randomly made a loud popping noise when when watching TV one day. We found that the fuse blew and the thermistor. We ended up replacing the entire power supply board and have also replaced the TCON board. Now as soon as I plug the TV in it lights up and has the Sharp logo flashing on and off of the screen. If I unplug the ribbon cable from the TCON board to the main board I get the 2 long 5 short error code. Any ideas on where to go from here? We've tried resetting it but nothing has worked. If we plug it in and let it cycle through the flashing of the Sharp...

SHARP LC-60LE640X display flashing white noise patches and totally dropping out randomly
              by dmcabs
              Hey guys,

I have a SHARP LC-60LE640X TV that has suddenly developed an intermittent fault of flashing white noise patches (appears like an Analog tuner off signal) and then totally dropping out.
This model I believe is also known as LC-60LE600U or LC-60LE640U in other regions.

FYI, a long time ago I was a component level repair tech for all consumer electronics and IT equipment.
I'm a bit rusty but still have ability to dig right down.

I measured all power supply lines and checked them for AC ripple voltage. Noting any lines that exceeded about...

sharp lc-65ub30u plays but screen is flashing on and off
              by JunkmanJimbo
Hey guys! It has been awhile since I've been on here. I hope everyone is doing well. I just picked up this Sharp lc-65ub30u. It plays but the screen is flashing on and off. Other than that i seems to be a great tv. Any ideas what the problem might be? I haven't pulled the back off yet. I thought I would get some opinions first. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Elitebooks (820, 840 etc. all gens) and those continuously flashing Power LED + flashing CapsLock LED
              by STKR123
As the Elitebooks (820, 840 all gens) only show flashing Power LED and flashing CapsLock (continuously) + a very soft "ticking" noise near the DC Jack,
I wonder if re-flashing the BIOS might be of any use here.

As far as I understood, steady flashing either means insufficient power or a CPU/GPU/Motherboard issue. I use the original 65watt power supply.

There are so many threads out there, but most of the solutions involve flashing codes, which I dont have or claim that you MUST use the original power supply, do a hard reset, reseat the RAM, clean the RAM,...

              Sharp LED TV flashing green 2x per second - LC-70LE735X, DPS-222BP, RUNTKA857WJQZ
              by beetle1303
Sharp TV flashing green light 2x per second at constant rate. Various reset methods do not have any effect on it. Search here and found flashing green 2x per second indicate bad power supply, which I am quite certain now.

I am seeking help with basic trouble shooting to find the short-circuit on the secondary side that I believe is the cause:

              The main PD connector:
              PD-1 (PNL12V) : 0.02V
              PD-2 (PNL12V) : 0.02V (fluctuating)
              PD-3 (SGRN) : 0V
              PD-4 (SGRN) : 0V
              PD-5 (UR13.2V) : 0.05V (fluctuating)
              PD-6 (UR13.2V) : 0.05V (fluctuating)...
