Hi tom..i did another hair dryer test as i feel its heat related now..after picture goes off i warmed up main board and in 1 area BINGO the picture re-appears..

Is this a failing element or solder issues..im borrowing a descent camera later so i can zoom close in and send pictures..thx

The fault has not been fixed..after 10mins when the picture goes the back of the set is not warm..it only starts to get warm at about 40mins..then if i turn off and on with remote the picture great for as long as the set is on..

What other tests can be done?
Im thinking solder joints but ive got a jewelers eye and had a really good look..cant see anything obvious..when i borrow a descent camera i will post some close ups of all the boards underneath..thx

Aren't intermittent faults so much fun?

It's doubtful the fault has been fixed. I hope it has though. However in the last week I have had 2 tv's and a car heater fan all with intermittent problems that have magically started working again.. go figure!

Since i replaced the bulged caps the set has never been on for longer than 40mins..ive now left if for 1hr with the picture like in quote 14..had 10 cups of coffee cos im dont like getting beat..especially with 90quid in it..anyways after 1hr i turned the set off by the remote(standby)and then turned it straight back on with remote and have been watching a crappy army film with patrick swayze for over 1hr..ehh
So my question is did something on the boards?just need a good charging or something???

I wont beable to get my hands on any advanced testing equipment so it looks like im stuck with a dead set

Do you have an oscilloscope, or can you borrow one?

Do you reckon the screen itself is on its way out.

I did your 1st test as soon as picture went so that is probably why half of screen had no picture..there was sound during failure

Next test is to leave the set on with ribbons connected until problem occurs, then unplug the LVDS cable, leave T-con for 30 seconds, and plug the LVDS back in, seeing if you get a picture.

Also, do you get sound during failure?

    Next step:
    - turn TV off at wall
    - disconnect left ribbon connector (for left side of screen)
    - turn back on you should have picture on right but not on left (left hand might be random noise, or just white or black.)
    - wait 10 mins does problem occur?
    - turn back off, plug left in and repeat with right.

That's fine. Was that during failure or normal operation?

    Datasheet: http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datashe...K/RT9164A.html

"15" indicates 1.5V output, so we should see 1.5V on one pin.

samsung un43nu7100 BN94-13191C/BN41-02635A boot loop problem even with tcon jumper
    by THXFX
Hi I need help with a Samsung un43nu7100 BN94-13191C/BN41-02635A with boot loop problem even with tcon jumper.
I've already try tape method and same happen, if I disconnect both flex from mainboard to panel tv boots normal even I hear Samsung sound.
When I solder jumper to make t-con work with or without panel or panel cables connected it still reboot or power cycling.
What I noticed is that there's no voltage in VHG, HAVDD, PANEL_3.3V, AVDD_17V or 12v near dc-dc chip.
I check capacitors and diodes and didn't find any short IN MAINBOARD.
    Measured all power supply...

Problem with LG Plasma 60PM6700 - Random power downs
    by theone111
I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
    1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
    2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.
    3. Problem: TV shuts down

TCL 50S535 bad tcon or panel issue?
    by x_orange90_x
Just bought this for 10 bucks yesterday hoping to fix it. The guy said water dropped inside from a dehumidifier hose and it started showing black and white vertical bars then went blank. When I got it home and turned it on it came on fine and displayed correctly but I was noticing faint vertical bars in the image. After a little bit I turned it off and back on and it was a black screen again. I opened it up to check for water damage and corrosion but didn't find anything of the sort. I cleaned the ribbons anyway and reconnected them but still got a blank screen. If I disconnect the right side...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
    by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

    i have a problem with thinkpad X1 carbon gen 2 "LMQ-1MB 12298-2 48.4LY26.021"
The laptop was turned off because the MOSFET was not transmitting voltage. After checking it turned out that the gate pin on the MOSFET was the problem, because it was producing an inappropriate voltage. and it was discovered that the problem was with the Think engine, so I decided to reprint each pin, and finally the mosfet could work properly. However, there is another problem, even though the voltage has been supplied to the laptop, it still won't turn on, there isn't even an LED indicator. After double...
