I've had people ask me how much they could get for their broken tvs. I personally wouldnt pay more than 50 bucks for one. And thats only if the screen is still good. Lots of people think just because they paid 900 dollars for a 42 inch lcd 5 or 6 years ago that they can still get 150 or more out of it. I regularly check craigslist and thrift shops for deals. I have been pretty lucky and have had a bunch of tvs just given to me. Most people dont have a clue what a pain these things can be to repair sometimes.

I guess everyone's local market is a bit different

Been lucky here picked up several LG, Vizio, Sanyo and Toshiba LCD's for no more than $5.00 each. The only problem child has been the Toshiba. Agree if someone else tried to fix the set before the risk goes way up

So far more luck with repairing "junk" sets than my My Panasonic tuner

That's exactly what I was thinking.

    I might offer him $15-20.

    Thanks for the feedback...

If someone else tried to fix it, $30 may be high. It is entirely possible you will have to repair both the original failure as well as whatever the first guy mangled.

£20 to £50 is about $30 to $75 US dollars. But
    yours is a different market.

Still, maybe I shouldn't be such a cheapie!!

    Yeah, that LJ92-01200A, LJ92-01202A, & LJ92-01203A
group is real problematic and expensive.

I may have a chance to get a 50MF231D/37. The seller
asked for $30. It would certainly be worth it if it's only the 2 bad
caps most people get on their power supplies. Problem is,
the original owner supposedly tried to fix it, and may have
zapped something out on the PS. Additionally, the screen
may have a slight scratch on it.

It still looks like a possible winner (that power supply
is around $75 on Ebay)....what do you guys think?

It depends on the TV, condition, and the chance of repairing it. I cheerfully have paid $200 (the customer's asking price) for a 2 year old 46" Samsung LCD TV that was displaying classic 'bad caps' symptoms. I turned around and sold it within less than a week, more that doubling my money.

I won't touch the plasma TVs based on the Samsung LJ92-01200A, LJ92-01202A, & LJ92-01203A. The cost of repair is too close to the resale price. The Philips 42PF7220A/37B is worth over $50 when it has the flashing error code - the repair costs under $10 and the TV has a great picture.

I considered buying a 32" Polaroid for $25, but the seller was a flake who refused to give me his address.

    £20 to £50 depending on condition. £20 for a small 32" LCD, £50 for a 42" full HD plasma.

I mean plasma and LCD ones?

Certainly a cracked screen is usually a freebie.

But assuming the screen is in good condition, I've
been hovering around $20 a pop, due to the real risk
that I won't be able to fix it properly, and because of
the very limited money you get from selling parts on
Ebay, after Ebay and Paypal take their cut, and after
all the hard work you put into dismantling, photographing,
listing, packaging, and delivering your items.

Someone else mentioned $20 here too. Sounds about
right considering many repairs are $200-350 or so,
with most people preferring to put that towards those
brand new, incredibly cheap sets at Walmart.

    Thanks for your input.....

Hello, I have a Fujifilm hybrid camera with an issue : the time don't run. I set 12:00 and 3 min later, the same : 12:00

AMD HD 5970 no post, no display, fan working
    by BilleB0B1
    Hi all ,

I'm currently looking for an AMD HD 5970 and bought one that was supposed to be in working condition.

It arrived with a broken fan and doesn't post or display anything. The fan is willing to spin despite being broken so I take it as a good sign. Depending on the motherboard it will beep or not and indicate there is an issue with the GPU.

I took it apart and the only thing I can see after a visual inspection is a discoloration below one of the ram module. I guess it overheated ?

I'm wondering if it is worth checking resistance/voltages...

Lenovo Yoga 710 15ISK, 80U00002US battery cable wire broken.
    by emeskay
We have an Lenovo Yoga 710 15ISK that we use as a secondary laptop. To cut a long story short, around May 2023, while traveling, I connected the laptop into an electrical outlet that was already switched on. Something made a "pfft" sound and the laptop refused to turn on after that. After getting back home, I gave the the laptop for repair to an informal repair person. He replaced the adapter and an internal motherboard part, but after he returned it I noticed that the LCD did not look normal. Essentially, every alternate horizontal line on the screen had gone missing. The laptop was...
