    Toshiba 37CV510U Backlight

A year ago I worked on this tv and the inverter board had obvious damage to an IC chip and two bloated caps. I went ahead and bought another board instead of trying to change the tiny smd IC. It had been working fine.

Today, I get the tv back. The symptoms are: when you turn the tv on, the screen will flash on then off ( you can see words), flash on then off ( you can see words) then go black. The power light stays green. After about a minute, it will power down.

I looked at the black screen with a flashlight, and I can see the words, so I feel I have another inverter problem.

I removed the inverter to see no obvious defects.

If it is an inverter problem, why does the tv power down after a minute?

Because the inverter sends a status signal to the main board. Aft er the inverter shuts down twice the main board shuts the TV down.

Of course, this is pure speculation; you didn't bother to supply any pictures, I didn't bother to give the problem much thought.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.
