55HDX61M Hitachi Plasma | Colored Snow

Client asked me to take a look at a plasma they have. Wasn't able to turn up much searching the web and thought one of you would have a better idea.
They offered to drop if off my house to work on, but want to see if its even worth fixing before going through the trouble.
Screen shows "colored snow" that you can still make out some text on the screen. Hooked up vga and put on PC's bios screen. The menu is barely visible.
Attached some pictures for review. Has anyone seen something similar?

All of the newer Hitachi tvs I have worked on were Panasonics.

Some older units were fujitsu pioneer.

Need a picture of the boards (back removed).

i had a simular issue with a lg plasma and it ended up bieng a shorted transistor on the buffer board. Id start there on this set if it has them. aso check transistors ont he sustain boards( suspect ysustain)

i happen to have a 55" fujitsu with a cooked power supply. If you need a board and mines the same, i could make you a good deal on them as i dont plan on attampting to repair this particular set.

Thank you for the advice. Didn't want to tell the guy I could repair it and then not be able to follow through.

Will post some picks and details of the boards.

            Missed your post this morning.

Thank You for that. WOW you guys are good. All from a couple of pics.
            That looks about right.

On these models do you think it best to just swap out the entire board?

ie. if its a couple of bad caps and transistors will the rest of the components
            hold out once their replaced?

From what i've seen so far plasmas are always board level repairs, except the power supplies maybe.

yeah it just all depends really.. if you can't get a board, well then board level repair is your only option. Im about at a 50/50 success rate with board level issues like this. Sometimes its something nice and simple, sometimes you dump $50 worth of parts at the board and it still doesent work. Its just the nature of the beast in afraid.

anything older then 06 ish is usually more headache than its worth( case in point the 55 inch fujitsu i have with smoked power supply, 48" gateway(chumbwumba set) with cooked power aupply, the proview 48" plasma with a bad zsus that i fix and more problems pop up(also a cumpbuwumba set), etc....

btw i know chumbwumba is incorrect lol thats just what i nickname them. chepa korean krap lol there ya go.

post some good pics of the ysustain board and buffer boards. we can give you an idea of where to look for issues that way..

Ordered the board from shopjimmy.com. About $115 with S&H.
Put it in today, powered it up and its Alive!

Board didn't look new. Never ordered from them before but it wasn't in horrible shape. 180 day warranty so have to see.

Made my client very happy. Appreciate the advice. Still pretty impressed you guys nailed it from just a picture of the screen.

Thank you all for the help.

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                    by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
                    by Alicat
                    Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                    Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

Snow on screen and no start Do I have to replace my CF53-MK2
                    by kilog
                    Hello friends,

Last week when I tryed to start my CF53-MK2 it just stop starting
and when it starts it displays snow and dansing and coloured lines on the sreeen as you can see in the attached video.

Some time it may show the startup Bios screen for a 3 to 10 seconds and then immediatly starts to disply snow and coloured lines.

I tested the RAM it is correct.
I tried to hook the machine on a HDMI screen, nothing.
I am not sure that the computer goes far to be able to show anything on an additional monitor.

                    Please I need your...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
                    by smic717394
                    Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

Panasonic Plasma screen interference on left half of screen
                    by Zelek11
My Panasonic Plasma model P55VT50 has started displaying "interference" on just the left half of the screen only (left when facing the screen). Sometimes it's concentrated in about the first 30 seconds after startup, then disappears. Other times it's fine at startup and then randomly does it later on. When it flashes the interference it's very quick and doesn't stay on the screen unless it flashes repeatedly in a row.

This image is a screen shot from a video I took. This is an example of the interference at its worst. Often the interference is much smaller...
