Vizio P50HDTV20A No picture No sound

    Vizio P50HDTV20A No picture No sound

    I searched all the previous posts related to no picture on these vizio models and most if not all of them point to the Y SUS board. The differance with the unit I'm working on is that I also have no sound. I'm not a person that is fond of the shotgun repair method of replacing parts untill you find the problem. This set is worth maybe $500 at best so I'm not going to start throwing $100 boards at it.

    Model Vizio P50HDTV20A
    Plug set in front Led is yellow
    Press Pwr button Led turns green you hear Power supply relays come on
    No picture No backlight No sound
    All Power supply voltages are good VS,VE, VA, 15v, 12v ,5v
    No blown fuses on SUS boards No Bulging caps No bad odors
    Also checked surface mounted fuses on the main board
    My conclusion is that the main board is bad. What do you think?? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    It could be a main board problem. Vizio main boards have a history of failure but that does not mean your main board is bad. Have you tried cycling through the inputs on the TV to make sure there is no sound? Can you power off the TV without unplugging it with the power button or remote? Have you checked all of the components on the Sustain board to make sure that nothing is bad including diodes, mosfets, IC chips, etc.?

      Cycled thru inputs. Yes your right I do have sound I missed an obvious step... thanks! I guess that puts me off in a different direction. I'll pull the YSUS board and do a good visual inspection and check out as many componants that I can. Does anyone have any info such as test points or voltages? What about the adjustments on this board .

        The failed board will be cold and you won`t here the ipms fireing.

        Most likely y drive board (on the left as you look ast the back of the tv).

        If thats the case inspect the buffers for burnt condition.

        Main board problems are on the lcd. This is made by l/g and it`s a plasma.

          Found a leaky cap and a blown fuse on the Y SUS board. Picked up parts today. Set powered up fine and looks great. Thanks for the Help.

            Glad you found your problem. I have seen a few Vizio plasmas with bad main boards. The panel and drive boards are made by LG and sometimes Samsung but the main boards are vizio.

              vizio jv50phdtv10a. jave picture no sound. I have digital output to my sound bar. The speakers just hum. it get ouder if I turn up volume and goes off if I turn off internal speakers . Cannot figure out why output to my soundbar is great.but cant get internal speakers on. Is there a fuse? bad caps on a different board. Also if there is picture of all plugs to power board. I replaced about 20 caps on power board adn there is a plug from the input board that can attatch more than one way . Fourth pinset from top left corner Thank you Vincentrock
