Hold the Channel Down, Input buttons at the same time while plugging the TV in.

the TV will power up into a diagnostic service mode. chances are, you wil see NO backlight.

You must replace the blown fuse, and the 4 bad switch-fets on the inverter board if this is the case.

So I ordered the new PSU same issue held the channel down and input. Just the back light came on. I unplugged the power plugged it in and had the same issue. The buttons didn't work again.

I then disconnected the ribbons from what I think is the inverter board it powers on fine no errors. What can I test or should I replace the inverter board?

      Thanks

Test for shorted transistors. (Hint: Pictures help.)

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

          Ha ha. Love it!

Sorry I posted that with my phone late last night. I a have some pics they aren't great cause I took them running out the door.

Thanks for the help. Sorry for no pics I will wait to post next time!

The first image shows the ribbons disconnected.

Well I hate to say this but the ribbon cables you disconnected were the LCD Controller (T-Con) board. This means one of two things, 1) You have a bad LCD Panel and this TV is junk and only good for parts (most likely since the LCD Controller is still plugged in to the power supply and main board) or 2) It could still be a bad LCD Controller but until you replace it you will not know. You can get one for around $50 -$60. My gut says that since it powered on with the panel disconnected from the circuit and the LCD controller still in circuit it is a bad panel and not a bad LCD controller.

To test if that is the problem unplug the three cables from the LCD Controller and turn it on. If it is like the model I had it should turn on without going into protect. There will be no image on the screen but the backlights should turn on.

So if I unplug the wires on the top it has the same problem if I unplug the ribbons on the bottom it works as described.

Yeah all that leads me to think that the LCD itself is bad. It could still be a bad LCD controller but since it turns on without the LCD connected I would not think that is the case. You can try a new LCD controller and hope that it works.

Thanks rayrod any ideas on how to test that? Any other thoughts? There is also a small board that those ribbons connect to could it be the issue? I will try to remove it today, it is the only board I haven't looked at.

I am guessing there is a short or something drawing to much power between the LCD control and the LCD screen

Yeah that is part of the LCD panel itself. It is possible that it could be fixed but there are SMD ICs and transistors that would take a lot of patience and soldering skill to work on and fix, if you can find those parts that is.

So you think the LCD screen itself is shot? I could order all new boards but if there is any chance that is the case I will just sell what I can and call it a loss.

So what do you guys think?

I ordered a LCD controller because it was only $15. If that doesn't work any other Ideas?

Any other input PlainBill? You seen like a guru!

In this case I am a novice. The most I could do is check the power drain of the various boards and determine which of them was responsible for the excess load. Certainly if a buffer shorted the LCD could be responsible. I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to tackle replacing one of them.

I got a t-cron board from ebay. Same error but if I unplug one ribbon half the screen works fine and the other half is white. Any thoughts?

Well I think that proves it. Its a bad LCD panel.

So I found the problem it isn't the lcd panels it was a ribbon cable on the lcd board it shorted out. Now the only problem is I can't find the cable anywhere.

It has a number on it M0308 some shapes then FXN then another shape 2

                              so "M0308 FXN 2"

I tried trimming the cable and scraping the cover off but I failed and messed it up more.

Does anyone know where to get this cable?

Being that it is a part on the panel itself it will be very hard to find. You might get lucky and find one on ebay at some point but most of my usual parts sources come up empty on searches. Where did you measure to find that it was shorted?

ive had a couple of those ribbons ive tossed out with the panels i had, which were broken screens.

I dont think anyone would "save" that ribbon, or think of doing so. I didnt think of doing so. sorry.

Also, i cant remember, but are the LCD ribbons/buffers/interconnects on the BOTTOM of the TV?

ive found all-too-common people spray liquids on the screen to clean it, instead of the cloth. What happens is it runs down the front of the panel and seeps into the ribbons/buffers, shorts and corrodes them away.

I would guess that is what happened it was corroded and shorted out.

If you come across one please let me know.

Some of the pins were burned and the plastic was a little melted before I disconnected it I could hear a spark or something from it.

I have also got the same issue my 2 year old decided its a good idea to wash the TV and it ended up shorting the ribbon cable M0308. Have you managed to find a replacement for this? If so do let me know where I can get one.

                                        Thanks
