Samsung 40" LN-T4053H (TV Clicking Constantly... No Picture)

Hello all and Happy New Year,

I'm back with another TV on the bench. This Samsung LN-T4053H when turned on has no picture but constantly clicks inside.

So I opened it up and found these bad caps (it IS a Samsung after all). I am in the process of procuring replacements and I will let you know if that fixes said problem.

    The faulty capacitors are;
    • 2 x 2200uF 105* 10v
    • 1 x 1000uF 105* 10v

I'm going to replace the 10v with 12v.

    So photo's for thought...

Re-Capped the PSU with Panasonic cap's. Worked like a charm. Camera died halfway through so no new pics. =)

Good job. Note that most here would have recommended that you replace all the caps in that area especially given how cheap the caps are compared to a 40 inch TV (still around $400 CDN on sale).

I would have done that but my supplier did not have the proper voltage caps required to replace the others. I would have had to use inferior caps or order them in which the customer did not want to wait for. I explained the risks involved but they opted to go with just the visibly burst caps.

Well, I guess they will be back for repeat business in the near future.

I am sorry to reply to this thread but new at this forum thing and couldn't located how to create a new thread of my own. However I have a Samsung LA40B530P7R, its a 40'' LCD TV also. The problem I am having is I am getting no video at all, no on screen display or anything. I do not the backlight of the screen and if I hook a HDMI device up I can hear the sound of the movie that is playing, no never any picture. I have replaced the IP power board and the main board and I still have the same issue. I am attaching some photos of the screen with it turned on, a shot of the back with it turned on, and of the overview with lights on so you can see the components. I hope someone can help.

Well, the inverter board - power board is working. You have the backlights working or it would not produce this somewhat of a screen. You're just not getting the correct picture displayed. The processor board would be my answer. Maybe there was a bad one that you got from ebay.

I checked the screen again, even with a flashlight and I do not see any image, just had sound again. The screen does have a light glow to it and I can see the light from behind the screen when the back is off of the TV. The main board I replaced it with was bought new, do you think it was bad with it being new? Any other ideas or thoughts for me? Thank you so much for your help.

Is there a board in the area that I put a box around in this picture?

                    Hi,
There is a small board in that area, the board that you can see the top of where the ribbon cable runs to, that board says T370HW02 VC CTRL BD.

Since you changed out the other boards with no effect, might as well try this one too. Theres almost nothing left but the panel itself. It's worth the try.

That is the T-Con board. It will probably take care of your problem.

Correct T-con ID is a "numbers must match" research project Example =

                          4046HDCM4LV0.2 matches to Panel LTA400WT-L06

                          BN81-01325A Samsung part number

LJ94-01790H Samsung board number ( 1790H found on white sticker )

                          HTH

Back to the original posts about the LN-T4053H, mine is doing the same clicking as described. Is replacing the caps in question difficult? How would I go about doing it? Also I noticed on another thread that someone was saying that these should have been 25 volt instead of 10, but you used 12. Which would be correct? and how much would it matter?

I just got a very similar 40" Samsung LCD TV in on my work bench - has two bad caps. 2200u 10V. Will replace them and report back.

The capacitors filter the 5.4V line so 10V is fine for replacements.

In my case they are hideously bulged. The TV does work, but is temperamental in starting up, occasionally it will work for hours but other times it just won't switch on at all. No clicking, which is odd for a Samsung.

The power supply looks the same as the OP's. The 1000u 35V is not failed, but I will probably replace it anyway.
