    Westinghouse lvm 42w2

Hi i have a westinghouse lvm 42w2 LCD tv and when i turn it on the westinghouse light turns on but i dont get any light or flicker or anything on the screen. ive taken apart the tv and removed all the logic boards and inspected them for bad caps or burn marks or anything really but everything seems to look good. While looking at the power supply it looks like there are 2 transformers and another thing that looks like a transformer but im not really sure, ill post pics after this post. If anyone has some diags i could throw at this thing to try to find out what is the issue that would be greatly appreciated.

Check all fuses on the boards. Notorious for blowing them.

        Re: Westinghouse lvm 42w2

Could you be a little more specific about "but i dont get any light or flicker or anything on the screen." Specifically, if you select a TV channel do you hear sound from the speakers? Have you tried hooking up a video game or DVD player and stepping through the inputs to see if you get any sound? If you shine a flashlight on the screen do you see a picture?

On many power supplies the output connectors are labeled with the voltages. If this is one of them, have you checked those voltages?

It's hard to tell with the heat sink covering the caps (bad design, by the way), but one of those caps looks a little suspicious. What brand are the caps?

Suggestions: Try selecting various inputs as described above. Report the results.

Requests: A side view of the power supply so we can see if any of the tops of the caps are bulged. And an over-all shot of the TV so we can see how everything hooks together. And a picture of the inverter.

ok so i set my voltmeter to 2k and touched the two probes together and got a reading of 0.0 then i tested the fuse in the circuit and got a reading of 0.0 with switching the probes on both ends of the fuse. then i took it out and tested it by its self and got the same readings of 0.0

ok im rerunning the tests with the settings at 200 ohms

            probes together = 20.4

            fuse out of circuit =19.9

fuse in the circuit = 20.1

If touching your probes together are reading 20.4 ohms, there is something seriously wrong with your multimeter. It should read less than 1.0 ohms.

Check/change your battery. Clean, reseat your probes.

ok i changed out the battery and i got some new reading

                probes together = .4

                fuse in circuit = .4

as far as changing anything on the tv channel input or anything to that effect i cant because it doesnt power up that far. only the little light under the screen turns on when i press the power button everything else is dead like its off.

Your fuses are good. You need an accurate multimeter obviously when measuring things otherwise you will get false positives.

Assemble all your boards so that everythig is connected.

Put your multimeter on 20V DC (if manual). Put your black into COM, red into Volts. Pick a ground screw near the connector for your black probe. Put your red probe on all the pins one at a time EXCEPT the 120V pin. Report all voltages.

For the 120V, is that marked AC or DC?

Quick check for novice, reconnect boards back to original conf turn set on.
                                      power light on?
check heat sinks on main board are the warm?
If yes to both , the main module has lost its firmware flash.
                                      replace main board ,bob

Ok, so I know I know, it's a Westinghouse....lol It's got the backlights but no video. Likely the panel, but I'd like to take some measurements on the buffer board with help from you experts to confirm. See the attached pictures. In pic #1, there's a nice pin reference to use to take some measurements. The large IC in pic #7 gets up to 60degC when the TV is on.

So, backlights, no video, go! πŸ™‚...

Help Request - Westinghouse 32" Smart TV (Model: WD32HBR105)

Westinghouse 32" Smart TV (Model: WD32HBR105) . Originally stuck on logo with no response from remote and no firmware file available to flash via USB. Westinghouse Support stated it would require service but that wasn't a cost effective option. I used dental floss to remove the motherboard processor heatsink to identify what make it was (Mstar). Unfortunately that knowledge didn't help with a solution. After the heatsink removal it only displayed a completely white screen. I then decided to replace the motherboard with a universal 3-in-1 board but the white screen problem continued. This...

                                          by Seville
                                          Hello all!

Westinghouse TV WD48FAB100 Not Powering On – Burn Mark Found on Power Supply .

I have a Westinghouse LED TV, model WD48FAB100 that is not powering on. Upon removing the back cover, I noticed a burn mark where the AC cord connects to the power supply/main board. In this model, there is only one board combining the two functions. Previous owner said the TV experienced a lightening strike, but who knows. I checked the main fuse, tested OK. Here are a collection of readings from the power supply ports. Looking for some guidance on what to test/check next....

Going to replace op-amps in a guitar amp jcr072d

so TI versions have suffix D IP etc. There didn’t seem to be an explanation of these anywhere. I think they indicate the physical pin characteristics but what do they represent- anyone have a list....

Thanks to y'all's help I fixed and am happily watching a 70inch Sharp Aquos. Perfect. Learned a lot, replaced LEDs. Pulled screen/panel. Proud.

This is a newer set. It's a Westinghouse Roku WR58UX4019. It was RIGHT outside my place literally, and I couldn't resist. 58in. 500$ new, but I'm not a rich man. So, I want to try.

There is sound. It turns off and on. Screen is black. I can...
