Vizio VA26LHDTV10T Sound but no picture

I have a 2.5 year old 26" Vizio that all of the sudden came up with the old no picture. A flashlight test verified that the screen is fine. The Vizio branding turn white when it is turned on.

I suspect this inverter (VIT70063.50 REV:3) has been problematic due to how many places sell replacements.

The first pictures show R26 being discolored. My meter measured around 68K on R26 and R34 measured around 70K for a comparison. I am getting 24V off the PSU. The 7A fuse directly off the 5 24V pins is good.

I get the following readings through pin 4 and pin 6 on each of the 10 coils labeled T1 through T10 from right to left:

    T1 - 511 ohms
    T2 - 515 ohms
    T3 - 510 ohms
    T4 - 518 ohms
    T5 - 508 ohms
    T6 - 509 ohms
    T7 - 513 ohms
    T8 - 509 ohms
    T9 - 514 ohms
    T10 - 516 ohms

My concern is that T6 and T7 are open between pin 1 and pin 6. The other 8 coils act like a cap is charging between pin 1 and pin 6. I am using the 2M scale on my RS multimeter. Should the big coil read closed

I think the 4 caps are good, but always willing to recap.

I am left guessing though... This is a common failure, but I have not found googly help anywhere. I was surprised by how many different model TVs use this same inverter.

Please ignore the splicing on the second picture. Thank you in advance for your kind input.

Here are the new pictures that I was able to take. I am sorry if the dimensions are too big. I did not want to loose any quality. I am about to leave work, but I noticed the two left CCFL plugs are not seat correctly. I am sure there is nothing wrong, but as many times as I have unplugged them recently, I better check for bent pins...

I actually discovered that I bent pins in the two CCFL connector, but I am still searching for a solution. Should I be getting a voltage reading across the big blue component. It reads zero.

The blue component is a capacitor.

Note the voltages in the inverter area are anywhere between 600 to 1200V AC. Enough to do serious harm to you. Don't go probing around if you are not sure.

that cap is labeled as 250v. Would you normally expect higher than 250v across it at that point?

I think he forgot to check if the fuse is opened on the inverter board.
Actually there are more than 1 fuse on the board.

I checked the 7A one. Where is the second fuse on the inverter?

Check around Q20, you should see F1.

                      250V is still a lot.

The inverter area where it is in white diagnoal shading is the 600 to 1200V or more AC area. Some multimeters will not survive measuring this shaded area (along with its owner).

Fuse F1 is bad. I hope that is the only issue. I will replace and test. I will stay away from the top forth of the board.

if the fuse at F1 is blown, you will need to find out why to keep it from doing it again.

Where are you located? You'd order from a distributor of electronics components. In the US, that would be Digikey or Mouser. In other areas, RS or Farnell.

My issue was resolved by the replacement fuse. I do not recommend what I did, but it worked for me. I purchased an inline fuse holder and soldered it to the solder pads. I was temped to run them to the outside of the monitor, but there was plenty of room to keep the fuse inside of the case.

Thank again to every one for their help.

If all of the voltages are present at the output connector of the power board, I'd suspect the main board or even still the inverter board. Some of these TV's have a whole laundry list of internal diagnostic checks before final power up.

There are four electrolytics on the inverter board. There also should be a fuse on there as well. I'd check those first.
