I have a Conia brand LCD TV - I think it a rebadge name by some importer.
Anyway, the backlight drops out after a while. If you switch it off and on
again, it lasts about 10 seconds before off. If I wait till next morning, when it
is cooler, then maybe goes 20-30 seconds. But the strange thing is if I leave it
for a few weeks, then try again, it lasts 10 minutes before the backlight
goes out. Does this sound like a bad electrolytic in the backlight power
supply? I have search in LCD monitor forums, and it seems usually the
backlight goes off after 2 second or less.
The reason I ask is that the case of this TV is a prick of a thing. It has 2
halves clipped together in such a way that two people would be required
to lever it apart with small screwdrivers. I am hoping it is a simple fault to
justify the hassle of getting at bad components.
