I have a Powermate 9120 UPS. After replacing the batteries, it came up
with "DC bus fault"
My first guess was that the batteries were not connected properly,
or maybe a relay had burnt out.
Then I found in a Finnish forum that this fault was cured by replacing
two capacitors. The poster further claimed that this was a frequent
failure in these models.
Has anybody fixed this brand of UPS and found bad caps are the culprit?

are zener diodes common failure?
I have come across many defunkt UPS (uninterruptible seems a bad
adjective for these). Anyway, I opened up one that lasted 10 years
before crapping out, and noticed printed on the PCB:
When the VCC short to GND
first check up this one
And it was pointing to a zener diode. Now the manufacturer must
have seen more than one of these fail, to print a helping hint for
the service tech!
(It was made by Main Power Elec. Co. of Taiwan.)

again, it lasts about 10 seconds before off. If I wait till next morning, when it
is cooler, then maybe goes 20-30 seconds. But the strange thing is if I leave it
for a few weeks, then try again, it lasts 10 minutes before the backlight
goes out. Does this sound like a bad electrolytic in the backlight power
supply? I have search in LCD monitor forums, and it seems usually the
backlight goes off after...
