Thinking that you should be able to test powerboard as stand alone and get the backlights to come on, if someone knows why it would not, enlighten us, have not dealt with this exact model, can you get a focused picture of all 4 of the legends by the connectors on the powerboard?

Yep, there they are, I forgot what the 5V SW pin is for, don't know if it has to be jumped to get the backlights to come on in stand alone test or not, maybe Diah can help, he's pretty good at the stand alone testing.

Don't know. It's not connected to any wire, for some reason it's just 5V

I actually lost my cat, then got all discombobulated and then found him and decided to.put one down for a second and pick up the Sony with backlight issues, and I think I found the problem. But I don't know how to solve it. Over to that thread!! I'll get back to this later lol

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                Assuming...

                Vizio E65-F0 really dead
                by Iain P
                Hi everybody!

I've got a Vizio E65-F0 smart tv that is good and dead. It shows no signs of life when I press the power button on the back. The power LED in the lower right corner doesn't light, there is no backlight and no picture.

So I took the back off and started poking around figuring one or more of the caps had dried out. My esr meter says all the caps on the power supply board and the mainboard are less than 1 ohm.

I decided to check the voltages coming off the power supply they are as follows:

                connector CN201
                pin 1 (18vsb1)...

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel

                Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Vizio SmartCast TV software bug that looks like hardware
                by howardc64
Bug looks like hardware so thought I posted it here. Exact same behavior on 2 different model 4K Vizio TVs running their SmartCast smarttv software. After launching youtube app, press vizio button on remote to return to the smarttv menu, once in awhile, a column of bad pixels will show for few seconds on the left hand side.

It seems the vizio software is reinitializing hardware when returning to the smarttv menu. In general, SmartCast software isn't very good. Also will randomly (relatively infrequent) get no network connection when on wifi and require reboot....
