Sony xbr-75x900f 6 red blink

yes identical failed inductor, and 6 blink code, then after shorting the err pin to ground a 4 flash code. glad I saw EasyBone's photos because I only did a front board inspection and wouldn't have seen that blown up solder point for a while. Also glad I read all the way thru so I didn't end up tearing the whole set apart.

Bottom line any troubleshooting in the future will involve taking boards out ands inspecting BOTH sides. Thanks for the learning opportunity! Already applied it on a new set I was working on.

Well done, indeed I get that board out early, ever since one little cracked solder joint had me going down rabbit holes for hours. Then when I found it I made myself wear a hat and sit in the corner, lol.

Curious to see if we can narrow this down a little, Subwagon was your bad component the same one as this one and were you getting 6 blinks? I dont mess with a lot of sonys lately but this may be the answer to why a lot of people that replaced the mainboard or tcon didn't get results, their powerboard was the culprit all along. Also wondering if theres a simple test for the circuit this component is on, looks like its L750 inductor.

But hell this IS a pretty good breakthrough, from everything I read and I did a shiitton of reading while dealing with my sony. MOST everyone thought that 6 blinks and about 3 volts on the bl-err pin was only a backlight led issue, I think its and a fine discovery, shiit I don't know, maybe I've not read a sony repair manual, not too crazy about manuals but they do come in handy at times.

Read posts carefully, that is what I just said. L750 was obviously blown. Was wondering what kind of readings you have on those other components in that circuit and if anything else was bad on that powerboard, just trying to dig deeper on this powerbard fault. Like what was most likely to cause this inductor to blow.

6 blinks doesn't mean bad backlights always. The solution Sony gives is replace power board aka backlight circuit. The circuit to power the backlights was bad on this TV.

Post 6 shows G/B meaning bad power board or main board or backlight.

From what I can see, L750 traces back to T601 thru a bunch of jumpers and to D751A, D751B, Q751A and C766. So what will/can make L750 blow and maybe what to expect from those other components mentioned, might be good to know in case L750 is bad but doesnt have obvious burnt indications like this one did.

I did the same dumb shyt, tearing my xbr down, super pain in the ass, just to see that the backlights all lit fine, then screwed around with the mainboard til I broke it. Glad it was only edge lit so not terribly disappointed because picture wasnt that great when it did work, definitely could not compare it to an oled set. I dont feel too bad because none of the super techs here AND at least one other site knew what the problem was either.

Also wondering WHY the backlights seemed to test bad when evidently they were good. The backlights testing "bad" is what really threw a monkey wrench into the diagnoses and the notion that 6 blinks ALWAYS means bad backlights, which more than one member swears is always the case but obviously is not.

Thanks again, went the same route and picked up a used board for $42 and the set is back up and running like new.

Glad you found this entertaining lol I didn't. But glady these were some of my first tvs. I no longer make those mistakes lol. As for repairing it, no clue. They were like $30 or something and I wasn't able to repair them at the time. I am sure it probably possible.

As far as the power board, is there any repairing it? Same issues on a set taking up my garage table. I looked up this inductor 3317-330M B234467 and didn't find anything on replacement components or anyone attempting to repair this Delta board.

I did enjoy the 7 pages of conversation and ordered a replacement power board after pealing it off and finding a similar burn mark / exploded solder point.

Lol, this ain't got no gas in it for sure. It's all learning for me. Now I've learned something. I mean I'm just repairing tvs in my garage lol maybe it'll turn into something more but we will see. The double power board threw me way off. All good though, hopefully this new board gets here soon and we can start the auction

Post 4 and 6 threw me off also. That picture lotas put up didn't show the picture underneath it in the manual where it says most likely power board or LCD panel. Next check main board, then check backlight lol went backwards in order.

At least we know eazy can tear down a TV ike a boss
