Thanks everyone for your help, recycling the set and moving on to an new project....

Is there any special way I should be checking these with a meter? in ohm mode none of the capacitors are shorted across. Removed both buffer boards from set to test. Same results with both sets of boards no shorts....

Here's what I have so far:
Ill split them into 3 sets, as this is how i have been testing them:
Set A -From shopjimmy
with this set installed Y board and buffer boards the set will turn off in a few seconds after powering up. I suspect the Y board to be damaged. First time i plugged this complete set in I saw sparks coming from the lower buffer C975 cap. Buffers raked no shorts found.
Set B - Purchased as spare parts from Ebay. Y board and buffer boards.
TV Set powers on and stays on but no picture and no 18v, get ~3.7 V instead, the rest of...

Raked both sets of buffer boards and found no shorted pins....

Went back to the first buffer boards and Y-SUS, tested all voltages came back with.
VS - 54V (expected 55V)
VA - 204.5~204.7 (expected 205V)
5V - 5.1V
18v - 3.4V
So it looks like im not getting my 18V. I isolated the Y-Sus board and still only see 3.4V at the Z-Sus board's 18V pin.
Swapped the Z-Sus board with another Zboard from shop Jummy and still get all the same voltage measurements.
Am I correct to assume that the 18v is produced at the Z board and passed on to the Y board?...

Tried a different set of buffer boards and got sparks on the lower buffer board C975. These boards came from shopjimmy and were supposed to be tested good.
Any suggestions, thanks in advance.

Dug this set up again to have a second look, this time I picked up a complete board set from shopjimmy and installed it. The set powers on then immediately powers off. If i disconnect the Y-sus boards P132 power cable the set will come on and stay on, and i can hear my input device. But no picture
Edit: Grabbed up a complete Y-SUS and buffer boards from the spare parts box and the set powers on / stays on with these new Y-Sus and buffer boards installed/ connected, But still no picture.
End result tv poweres on, screen stays black and no longer turns grey briefly. Set...Last edited by subwagon; 12-17-2023, 03:28 PM.

Re: Repairing or replacing an LMB202E LCD Display
Yes you did! It was for the LMB202E's manufacturer Data sheet. Not sure what I was thinking earlier, lol. Simply pinned out a spare LCD to match the Pins from the Data sheet and it lit right up. Looks like there isn't a direct replacement for the LMB202E, so instead I'm picking up a Blue with white LCD to go in its place. I used a great big display I had laying around but ordered a nice 20x2 character LCD that has the same dimensions as the old LMB202E.

Re: Repairing or replacing an LMB202E LCD Display
yes, mentioning it was in Russian was for the benefit of the audience if they went to check out the link. I ran google translate and I'm still not following what pinout was used to transition to the display this gentleman used.
And I'd also like to poke around and find a direct one to one replacement that shares the same pin out if I can, instead of hard wiring like in the link above....Last edited by subwagon; 10-27-2023, 02:58 PM.

Repairing or replacing an LMB202E LCD Display
Hello everyone, I'm in the process of repairing a tabletop air cleaner, but am having difficulty repairing a failing LCD display.
3 years ago I ran a soldering iron over the ribbon cable and got the entire display to come back to life. Unfortunately it gradually failed again but this time I wasn't so lucky at getting it to revive with heat.
I believe that I may have gotten the ribbon too hot this time, so I'm looking for an alternative to an LMB202E. Unfortunately I am not having much luck. I did find an LMB202A, LMB202C, and LMB202D but I'm afraid the pin outs are...

Re: LG 60PB5600 Sound but no Picture
Unfortunately it didn't work. Replaced the blown cap with 2 2000pf caps in parallel for a total of 4000pf or 4nf. (mentioned above a few comments back).
So what should I try next?
After replacing the cap, I also tried running auto test on the logic board again with no response....

Re: LG 60PB5600 Sound but no Picture
Right, I saw my mis-type after the edit period.
VA 55V Actual ->54.8 @ P/S
VY measured at 187.2V @ Y-SUS...

Re: LG 60PB5600 Sound but no Picture
On y-Sus Board
I also removed R206 and R559 from circuit, they should read 2.2 ohms 5% but I measure 2.4 and 3.6 ohms. Ill have to go grab my notebook to remember how to test some of these other components like Q507,Q552, and Q553.
Any other components I should be particularly interested in?

Re: LG 60PB5600 Sound but no Picture
OK i put in 2 2000pf in parallel at C975, with no change still get the prime then nothing.
With the lower buffer removed the screen is gray on the top with just a hint of color on for about 3 seconds then back to black.
Va measured at 187.2V with both buffers back in...

Re: LG 60PB5600 Sound but no Picture
I see Vy test points, but not sure if i can get a accurate reading now that i pulled the lower buffer board due to an exploded component at C975
I attached 2 pictures of the Buffer board 1 of the missing component and 1 of the service tag identification....

Re: LG 60PB5600 Sound but no Picture
Whereabouts is -Vy, i have a sticker for VS and VA and associated test points on my p/s.
What pictures would you like, this model shared all but the input main board with its equally sized siblings in the 60PB family save for the 60PB6900....
