As soon as plugged in at power socket TV starts up with Philips opening logo, screen then shows HDMI 4, then both picture and backlight go off but TV remains on and if any button on remote is pressed red led blinks fast. If mains plug is removed and plugged back in the same thing happens. Suspect it might be software on main board related issue. If anybody has the software for this model would be grateful. Have corrected many LG mainboards by reflowing at 200c in the oven does anybody know whether Philips mainboards are so oven friendly!

Try to force the backlights on first, before you go after the main board and make sure the backlights stay on. -

Possible to force backlight on but no picture. As i explained in my original post theres no picture and backlight.Comment
