Re: Lenovo G710 Very weird GPU issue
Any suggestions on a live CD with nvidia GPU support and benchmarks? Usually linux distros dont come with nvidia or any discrete GPU drivers iirc....

Re: MacBook Pro 17" Early 2009 Logic Board Help
I had 9600M GT MXM cards from acer which all died. Maybe apple was using different chips? idk.....

Re: Lenovo G710 Very weird GPU issue
Updating the BIOS didn't fix the issue.
I still can't install the official drivers for it. I can only install a very old driver package from 2015.
I disabled hardware acceleration in Chrome a few days ago and it seems to be more stable now which makes sense because it doesn't use the GPU anymore.

Re: MacBook Pro 17" Early 2009 Logic Board Help
Those MacBooks have 9600M GT GPU's. 100% dead and not worth fixing.

Re: Lenovo G710 Very weird GPU issue
I‘d assume my mom (her laptop) didnt update the BIOS so i assume it’s the first released one. Will do that! I havent thought about that..
Pretty much randomly but seems to be only happening when the gpu drivers are loaded. Didnt occur while running memtest overnight. She mostly browses the web on Chrome or does Text editing stuff.
The GPU-Z benchmark crashes it instantly when closing it. It does not crash while stressing the GPU or CPU.
It works normal after restarting....Last edited by KvnTM; 05-02-2020, 12:33 PM.

Re: Lenovo G710 Very weird GPU issue
Thats pretty stupid but hey Nvidia isn't known for logical product names, right?
Anyways.. I'd also imagine that it is a power issue. But why doesn't it crash when everything is under stress? Temps are also irrelevant. Sometimes it crashes instantly after powering on and sometimes after hours.
Kinda reminds me of the Late 2013 15" Macbook Pro's without a dGPU......

Re: About M2ssd Connectors ??
I‘d say JTAG to program/debug the controller chip at the manufacturing stage.

Lenovo G710 Very weird GPU issue
Hello Friends,
I'm puzzled about this laptop.. It has a dedicated Nvidia 820m GPU and BSoD's
randomly. The GPU works fine with 3D Mark and FurMark. Memtest reported no
issues and the CPU is fine. So far so good.
Now the weird part begins:
Furmark reports the GPU as a GT710m. GPU-Z as 820m and the Nvidia Control
Panel sometimes as 820m and sometimes as 720m. I can't install the official
drivers from nvidia for either the 720m or 820m. It always says that the installer
can't find a compatible GPU. But Windows installs the 820m drivers...Last edited by KvnTM; 04-30-2020, 03:00 PM.

Re: Interesting finds
It obviously turns on and shuts down immediately. It turns on, tries to read the bios rom, fails and shuts off....

Re: HP G6 DA0R13MB6E1 QUANTA R13 REV. E / No power, No LEDs...
Just a stupid question.. Did you press the power button?
I assume that the led comes on as soon as you plug in AC?
What happens when you press the power button?
There have to be at least 3.3v and 5v on two coils. Or else nothing would work. Also no led's would light up....

Re: Ram DDR3 to DDR3L
Alright. I got this wrong
I actually think he altered the specifications of that memory stick in a way that it „shows up“ as DDR3L Memory. Maybe the chips do work outside of their specifications and you may or may not get lucky. I wont trust it though..
I‘ll try to set my memory voltage to 1.35V at my desktop pc tomorrow. If it works you then got your answer...

Re: HP G6 DA0R13MB6E1 QUANTA R13 REV. E / No power, No LEDs...
This cant be. Are you 100% sure that the board was powered on during measuring?
Also: Please don‘t tell me you tried to start the board without ram. Put either one or both sticks in and try to turn it on again. The board can‘t do anything without it....

Re: HP G6 DA0R13MB6E1 QUANTA R13 REV. E / No power, No LEDs...
It looks like as if you are not measuring on the actual contacts of the inductor. You obviously have to measure on the metal contacts of the part. Not on the case. They all have only two contacts. It doesn't really matter which one you measure.
Do this for all inductors on the board and attach the volt readings. And I mention it again: Do this while the board is on (power led on).
Is your meter set to 20V DC ? Like I showed in one picture before....

Re: Ram DDR3 to DDR3L
DDR3 chips wont work in a DDR3L system.
You could raise the ddr voltage to 1.5v on the board. That could theoretically work.
Quote from ifixit:
DDR3L is a dual voltage capable memory DIMM, which supports operation at both 1.5V and 1.35V. DDR3L is also pin-compatible with DDR3. DDR3 is a single voltage capable memory DIMM, which supports 1.5V operation only. So in this case the RAM will be running at 1.5 volts as your system does not offer a low voltage option....Last edited by KvnTM; 12-09-2019, 03:21 PM.

Re: Acer Swift 3 not powering up - leds flashing
These soc's have pros and cons.. They are way more efficient than older generations but a failure means a complete write off on most laptops if it is not a 4k$ MacBook or something else really expensive... I could live with a 5mm thicker device if it comes with a socketed cpu. We live in a throw-away society..
Sadly yes. Fixing it will cost more than getting a replacement board.. You're welcome, that's what the forum is forThe dude who worked on this one prior was an idiot.. I hope...

Re: HP G6 DA0R13MB6E1 QUANTA R13 REV. E / No power, No LEDs...
Alright.. Now you have to measure all power rails on this machine while it is on.
Put your black probe on gnd (a metal shield, screw hole, ..) and the red probe on one pad of the big grey squares with two contacts.
Do this for all big grey squares (aka Inductors). Take pictures of all points you measure and write your voltage readings into the picture so that i can understand it better.
The components (Inductors) that I am talking about look like this with different...Last edited by KvnTM; 12-08-2019, 05:50 PM.
