ue46d8000 power cycling, bottom LED issue

It turns on and sometimes it will stay on for a few minutes and I can see the smarthub and play a movie from a USB stick for a few minutes.
Sometimes it cycles constantly we just the samsung logo flashing up.
I pulled the capacitors off the power board and and checked them and they are fine. I have checked for dry joints and unable to find any.
Originally I though the main IC might be bad sdp1002 on the main board as it gets quite hot but following advice from another thread I diconnected the main board
and shorted pins 3 and 4 and the panel lights up and cycles constantly.
I tested the voltages on the main plug and they look OK.

I removed the screen and inspected the led (side light led strips). One was loose I attempted to solder it back (hot air) on and failed so tried to jumper the ledout using a thin piece of wire.
When I power the TV I noticed that the bottom half of the LED's are not powerng up on both sides.
I tested the LED's in diode mode and they all lit up.
I am a noob and not sure what's going on!

The problem is with the bad led. you can NOT just jumper it out. the power supply will go into protection.
If you have not damaged the led or the board yet, you need to apply new flux to the led and the board so the solder will reflow properly

Yeah I will give it another go. I appled new flux and lead solder but was worried I was going damage the board.
So the led's only lighting half up is typical protection behaviour. One faulty LED will do this? Excuse my ignorance! If I can't fix it I will try and get a replacement led side strip.

      Thanks.

The power supply led driver monitors over and under voltage as well as current, so it does not take much of a change to go into protection.

So I have ripped the board a little and hope I can repair it and solder another LED on.
I have continuity from + on D2 to the edge D1 so I can solder another LED onto the - of the new LED and keep the series going?
What will I do with the + on the last LED?

I am looking for 5630 smd led is that right? The one I saw on Aliexpress had a different anode and cathode connection but I was thinking as long as the driver can measure the correct power the TV will work even if it's not pretty!

          Thanks

You destroyed the traces and heat dissipation contact for the led. You need a new led strip. Where did that large solder area for D1 come from?

Re: ue46d8000 power cycling, bottom LED issue

The shiney bit for D1 is what was under the trace . The heat dissipation must be that black covering? That will glue back down. So it's impossible to repair the strip. I'm not sure the TV is worth the cost of new led bars, you have to buy x2. I understand it would be deemed a sub standard repair but its my TV and just a hobby to learn a bit.

One of the traces would have connected the + of d2 to negative of D1 led right? so where would the other trace go? Any ideas.
If I can prove the TV works buy repairing the board then I might be inclined to buy a set of led bars and repair properly.

              Thanks

looks like a mess, best to replace all backlights, prolly the only problem, they shouldn't be too much on ebay, just go with a seller with good feedback.

Re: ue46d8000 power cycling, bottom LED issue

How do people go about repairing these bars? They are quite thick aluminium so can you use hot air station on them or do you use a fine tip iron to try and get the legs on the LEDS? The only other way would be to heat the whole bar up and pluck off with tweezers maybe?

Also if I was to try and buy some of these LEDS what would I look for? I'm not sure the 5630 is right?

                  Thanks

This one's a weird one, and still unsolved despite it having gone back to Dell once.

                    Specs

i7-8750H, GTX 1060 Max Q, 500GB SSD & Seagate 7mm 1TB HDD. 17.3 IPS screen. This has the fingerprint reader in the power button.

                    Backstory

I bought this from eBay, from a wallpapering shop. £650 in 2020 which was a good price considering it's a gaming laptop. Physically it's in perfect shape, apart from the hinge mounts on the palmrest failing in the time I've had it (I have a new palmrest for it). The usual thin plastic crap modern build quality!...

                    Hi,

I have confirmed that I have a mainboard problem.
I have tracked no hardware issued on board so might be a software dump required.

I have searched a bit but wasn't able to find anything for my screen:

                    Here are some more details:
                    Panel: cy-nn065hgev1h
                    Main: BN94-14180M P08F

                    Your help much appreciated!

Is it possible to upgrade from a Vestel 17MB97 main board to a 17MB110 Main board?
                    by cheeky2
I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...

Sony RB2G Chassis KDL-55W815B MAIN BOARD 2 Blink Error issue resolved! Happy days :)
                    by cheeky2
For anyone interested just repaired this Sony Main board TV that had a 2 blink error code, the chassis is a RB2G which is common to quite a few different Sony models. The Ceramic 10uF 25V X7R 1206 capacitor C9114 was shorted which took the smd 2A 0603 fuse out F9101. This was powering the Buck converter TPS54332 which caused no 5V output from it.
See the attached picture of the locations of both components. I also attach the best service manual I found for this board for anyone else in a similar position of trying to repair this main board. It's not specific to the TV model however it gives...

                    LG OLED65E9PUA Main Board Issue
                    by aaronwt6
Just thought I'd post my repair success on this one since it was the newest OLED I've repaired to date. Symptom was TV acted like it was turning on but screen remained black and no audio. It was a bit sluggish to react to remote commands but hard to notice. Optical port on the main board lit up so that initially threw me off but the board was not putting out voltage to turn on the T-con so I proceeded with a main replacement. That resolved the issue. TV is less than 3 years old so pretty sad given the initial cost.
