    Lexmark x463 screen

so someone came by my doctors office and sold them this printer, for a lot less then it sells for, it worked at first, but now, when it comes on and you press the screen a patteren of grey and black squares in a diagnoal patteren. I took a pic with my phone and can't find my usb cable for it

I looked at it, found the motherboard with rubycons, looking all right, but the screen turns off after a few mins, and any touch to it brings back up the same patteren

think its the screen or the motherboard? I can get both, but not for cheap

hmmm, move to general electronics for me

    Update the firmware.

In the horrendous block of text, one thing it mentions fixing is 'Unresponsive home screen'

      Re: Lexmark x463 screen

i'm not sure it would count as 'unresponisve screen' cause it freezes all other functions. I'll certainly try it though! thanks!

        Re: Lexmark x463 screen

well the thing would never boot to the point where it got itself an ip address, and would respond to the updater tool, even with USB. With USB, the laptop I was going to use to flash it never detected any devices. Here are pictures of the screen. I wonder if the motherboard is freaking up the screen, or the screen is freezing up the motherboard

caveat: when you first turn it on, the screen has nothing on it. If you touch the screen, this (attachment) appears. goes into power saving mode turning the screen off, but the digitizer will still work and bring the same thing back up

Call Lexmark to see if it's still under warranty?

Is it only the screen, or is the rest of the machine not functional too?

              Re: Lexmark x463 screen

the rest of the system, it dosen't do a full boot. but what I was thinking is maybe the screen is freezing the rest of the system when it started to boot. I dunno, take what you can from the screenshot above

its working...appearently it was under warranty, and i'm suprised lexmark honored the warranty after the office lady told them where she got it from

"some guy was going around selling them off the back of a truck"

                no kidding

it was the motherboard, and it works fine. Now just to find a fax card. Last place I 'bought' it from emailed me saying they were actually out of stock, even though the website said they weren't, and refunded me the money. its hard to find for under $300, most of the places that list is for under $100 usually have no inventory, or say its in inventory, when it really isn't

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
                  by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.
                  by smic717394
                  Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

                  Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
                  by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

Vizio TV M50-C1 reboot cycle and static on screen
                  by spice_disc
I'm currently trying to diagnose and fix my Vizio TV (Model M50-C1). I've tried a number of different basic solutions, but I'm trying to determine if my issue is currently a failing panel, T-Con board, or main board (or something else entirely) and whether or not it is worth my time to fix it. Details of the issue and what I've tried are below as well as why I think it is either a bad panel, T-Con board, or main board.

The Issue: The TV will be on and working fine but after the TV is on for ~5-10 minutes the screen will freeze (with sound continuing) until the TV reboots itself. While...

ipad pro 9.7" blew a SMD component while replacing the screen 🤦‍♂️
                  by ipatch
i have an ipad pro 9.7" (1st gen) A1674 where i replaced the screen, but never attached the screen to the frame/chassis (glued down) due to the ipad being previously dropped so the new screen would never fit in the frame properly. so i need flex/bend the chassis to eventually fix the new screen in properly. so i temporarily just applied blue tape around the edges of the screen to keep it in place. when watching videos with the ipad the screen started flicker, so i though maybe the new quasi cheap amz screen i purchased was going out. so i disconnected then reconnected with power still on,...
