Re: Stumped this weird G4 power supply problem

Please post what you are ordering for which cap# *before* you place the order.
I'd appreciate the chance to review them.

Something like this: C16,19 - Rubycon ZL

In these units, I have used Panasonic FM & FC series, Nichicon HZ & PW, and United Chemi-con LXY. Everything from 0.47 - 47uF is fine. Also the 470uF on the fan board is not a problem. That takes care of 17. The other 11 are the problem children.

Re: Stumped this weird G4 power supply problem

I can actually get these caps out quite easy, the pain in them is cutting away that glue. My problem has been sourcing the parts. I went to 4 places and bought from 2 and still didn't get them all and now it turns out you guys are saying they suck.

I decided I'll go with a combination of the rubycon and nippon

For starters this would be the complete set for ACBEL minus the big ****ers

      0.47uf (4pc)
      4.7uf 50v
      10uf 50v (I didn't change it)
      47uf 50v (I didn't change it)
      47uf 25v
      100uf 25v
      220uf 25v
      470uf 35v
      680uf 35v
      1000 10V 8mm x 16mm (2pc)
      2200 6.3v (2pc)
      2200 16v
      2700 6.3v (I didn't change it)
      3300 10v

I'll edit them later with sizes and the C numbers

I hear you about sourcing. In addition, we Canadians pay what I consider a non reasonable ship/handling vs the USA for companies like digikey and mouser.

In USA, it is about $2.50 USD for s/h. In Canada, it is 8 CDN + GST + HST for s/h.

You should be able to get all your caps at either digikey or mouser Canadian websites.

Don't get me started on this. I used to sell things online. In the US they pay about $60 to ship a 10kg box to Europe. Canada post charges $200 for the same package. We have the most corrupt postal system and I never could figure why the price is 3x higher than our neighbors.

Re: Stumped this weird G4 power supply problem

Digikey and Mouser both have "Canadian" websites as prices show up in Canadian dollars. So I'm assuming that parts actually come from Canada and are not subject to customs tax.

So that can't justify the almost $6 difference in s/h.

                  doesnt really say much.
the german digikey site also shows everything in euros .. yet the parts actually come from the USA which makes the whole site pointless for "normal" people unless you buy tons of crap there (free shipping above 65eur/82.20US$ value of goods .. otherwise at least 18eur/23US$ shipping)

if the stuff actually came from somewhere in germany, shipping costs would be usually somewhere around 5eur/6.32 US$ .. incl. insurance + tracking..)

You missed the point, we are talking about US shipping intl vs Canadian shipping intl..

For example a man in niagara falls, NY can ship to a 10kb box to germany for $50 but someone from niagara falls, ONT would pay $170. Canadian shipping is 200-400% times US rates.

yes generally the price is the same going from us to canada or canada to us, the price is within a few cents as the distance is the same. but we have no competition when it comes to shipping intl. canada post sets the rate and the other few companies follow it to within a few dollars. it still doesn't account for the main point. That is shipping 8000km from new york vs 8000km from ontario is 3 x the cost. go ahead and get a quote yourself.

translated he just says that those other light blue caps are Jun Fu, and the other black cap on the right is a C(r)apXon..

the do in fact seem to be related to Licon (.com.hk) ... so the "quality" is prolly equally crappy as if it was related to Jun Fu or CrapXon..

Why do you keep screwing around with questionable caps? I just don't understand.

If you read anything on this site, you have to understand the problems with them.

WTH is "Panasonic Ultra low ESR" ??? That sounds like a scam too.

Well I didn't say I was going to buy those exact ones. That was just what I had in mind. I was more worried about the ELNA brand.

I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                            Assuming...

This power supply is 30v 5amp. Problem is when turned on after about 3 minutes voltage starting to decrease slowly. (like - 5.8 > 5.7 > 5.6 > 5.5) can't see any damaged component or dry solder joints. Checked main 2 transistors with multimeter. Reading seems ok. Tried changing potentiometers(both coarse and fine) still the same situation. Can any one help me to troubleshoot? What voltages to check? Any ideas helps to fix this. thank you.!

                                            Hello!
I have this very weird problem, I got this rx580 nitro saphire and the fans don't even spin but the saphire logo is lit.
All voltage rails are present except for VCORE at the coils, then I started checking NCP81022 and it has voltage but vdd pwrgd is missing, enable EN is missing it shows 2.5ohm, everything seems fine, i tried checking the back of the card, to see where the enable pin goes, i dont have a schematic so i started touching randomly until i measured a resistor on the back and the fans started spinning, now I was amazed like what is wrong here? So I thought it's a...

I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...
