    double lugged molex wiring

ok, i have a couple ultra V 500w units, brand new. other than a bad choice of lytics, they are fine in every way:

lots of coils, x/y caps, proper bridge, decent heatsinks and parts on them, good transformers, decent wire...

BUT- the wires going to the molex/sata connectors are double lugged- about an inch of 16AWG, then inline spliced to 2 18AWG lines for drives. PCI-E, 20+4 atx, and p4 conntions are not doulbe lugged.

i am a bit concerned about it, i doubt there is room to try to straight-wire them to the pcb... i could try in a last resort.

is double lugged ok or should i try to cram the wiring in the pcb holes, or should i scrap it?

edit- there are open holes... WHY did they double lug it?

edit2- i will likely fix the issue when i eventually get to recapping them.

As long as it's not double lugged into a real high current wire like 1 18ga into three 18ga's for the pci-e, it should be fine.

16ga into multiple 18ga's for the molex and sata isn't a big deal.

        Re: double lugged molex wiring

ok, i was able to fix one of them, and i was able to do a nearly full recap:

        280uf jee primarys---> 680uf chhemicon primaries
        bye-bye 240/120 switch, jumpered for 115v
removed all double and a few triple lugs (the singles that recieved the lugs was 18awg, not 16awg, so they needed to go bye-bye)---> every wire has its own solder hole

got all secondary caps worth recapping execpt for 2 of the 4 680uf 16v caps, those i will replace later.

it should be a lot better now. i shall test it.

got it running, i also forgot to say that i swapped the 4 pin 12v to a better quality connector with beefier wire. running fine so far, i'll have to order caps to finish the recap..

Does better wiring (and therefore less resistance) improve the efficiency by any measurable amount ratdude?

yes... that way it can deliver the power it's capable of.

Yes, all the more vital on 5V design. This is major reason Intel specified 12V for less current and therefore cut down on power losses. High end machine even use 24V.

                  Cheers, Wizard

                      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

                      Hello team,

I'm back with another tv and another problem.
I try to improve my knowledge on fixing TV, and all technics used until now are not fixing correctly the problem.

First, reboot issue, I use tape Method to find out the right side that cases the issue.
Then using this it's working for quite 1hour30, then at some point of time the image became double on the bottom for half the screen.
Then double image reduce in height and move to the top.
The image is like folded on around 1cm and the bottom has been moved to the top by 1cm.
                      When I...

hi to all on the above model i have solarized picture and double letters
                      it uses tcon board FHD60C4LV1.1
i think as about as the double letters maby the problem is the same display
but as about as the colours it likes as solarized picture
i look to find the schematic for the above tcon card without success
has anybody measure the voltages from the above tcon card to advice me how can i measure the gamma voltages ?
                      thanks on advance

I'm looking for the wiring diagram for led monitor model DHI-LM19-L200
                      by gabri2211
hello everyone, I'm looking for the wiring diagram of this led monitor.
the model is DHI-LM19-L200, but I think that any other diagram of a DAHUA monitor could be equivalent.
I really hope that among you someone can help me to repair this monitor, the screen is black, it doesn't seem like a backlight problem.
I see the presence of 12 volts, 5 volts, but without a diagram the repair is very difficult.
thanks to those who will answer
