FSP Blue Storm II 500 (No Power)

Lost power from this unit last night..its just over a year old. The PC was up and running and just shut off.

Now, the on/off switch on the back of the PSU lights up when switched on, but machine doesnt even try to power on. Checked machine with another PSU and it works ok.

I took a look inside and everything appears ok with no obvious burn or heat damage on top and bottom of the PSU board and the caps (CapXon) all appear to be ok with no venting, etc.

Anyone have a clue as to what might the issue with this thing? How much would one of you guys take to go through it and recap it with better caps, etc?

Its a well built unit and would hate to just trash it.

check the fuse on the board.

Warranty?

Through the door rates at most shops is $50 and up. If you don't have the skills to do it yourself, and you are out of warranty, get a new one.

You might be able to get some bucks for it on eBay.

Checked the fuse, forgot to mention that. I can do recaps and such just dont have the skills and tools to do anything more than that.

Warranty would be voided once I broke the seal to look inside I think.

VOM/DMM ?

Disconnected from computer and just plugged in and back switch on, check the mobo plug for the 5 volt stand-by (5vsb) voltage. Measure between the Purple wire and any black one.

Measured the purple and black wires and got nothing. Unit was plugged in, everything disconnected from PC, with just the power switch turned on the back of the PSU. Will try and get pics but couldnt spot any obvious heat or other damage.

The 5vsb voltage is necessary to get the unit running. We will need to determine why the 5vsb has disappeared and go from there.
