The PSU in the title has canicon caps. one is bulging, although it may not be noticable on the picture. I'm not going to bother fixing it as it is just a cheap junk psu

Hairong...in the bargain basement roundup on JG the 450W version of this unit did not explode, or die, just the voltages started plummeting until it turned itself off.
Might be keeper with a recap, maybe some beefier secondary schottkey's.
The OEM is Megapax Electronics.

Too late now. Shortly after I made the first post, I destroyed it. Cut the wires, removed the fan and heatsinks. The caps make great fire crackers when you burn them
I have got half a dozen spare PSUs which I repaired. A 350 watt ISO brand (Re-capped it and oiled the fan), 3 Antec SP-350s and an SP-400 (Re-capped) and a 400 watt Codegen (Replaced the fan)I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

My parents' Panasonic P42S30 died recently, and they asked me to have a look at it. I was able to identify the SN-board as the culprit, as it was shorted. After removing Q401, Q402, Q421 and Q422 the short was gone, so I replaced these components and that got the TV working again. However, when testing the tv a bit, I noticed quite bad pinkish sparkles on some colors. For instance the greyish bar on this forum seems to trigger it quite badly. I made a fullscreen test picture with only that color, with the below result.
There is about a 5cm high region at the top without any sparkles,... -
This crossover was bought new about 12 years ago, and has probably been powered on for at least 3/4 of that time. It also has a recently developed horrible sound on the second channel, sometimes it's a wub-wub-wub, sometimes it's just a hum that comes and goes. It's not noticable if something is playing (it may be gone), but it's quite noticable if there is silence.
Because of age and problems it's due for a recap. I'm also strongly considering putting in sockets to potentially replace the 12 ST TL072 opamps. For such a small device, it's still going to be over 30 screws to take... -
I was given this tv today. It was purchased just last month and only used for 3 weeks until recently when water leaked down the back and behind the cover. I removed the boards and WHOA 😲 did this thing get fried. Unfortunately the water got directly onto the backlights portion of the PSU. The board appears to be completely unrepairable, but I'm not certain about the backlights. I managed to get the probes of my tester into the slits of the plug and I DO get readings from both strings. I'm getting 26v from both. The PSU says LED Output is 167.4v however. Would this indicate that the backlights... -

I was wondering if you could help me with the below issues Im having on a Sansui Integrated amplifier. I bought this unit as a project to repair as Im playing around with basic electromics.The unit has a faulty volume control pot. The service maual refers to a 150K Logarithmic pot (A) tapered stereo. Im struggling to find this value. Seem to be a jump from 100K to 250K. Im now trying a 250K pot. It works but the problem is that as the volume is turned up from starting at Min the Left channel will come on first just slightly before the Right...10-15-2025, 02:54 PM -
Only 3 years old. Owner said backlight went out and burning smell. Didn't bother plugging in to check if had power LED. Just opened the TV rear and found shorted bridge rectifier diode on the backlight circuit on the PSU. SF26G (400V 2A super fast recovery rectifier link ) diode replace with SF26 (what I had on hand) Google AI said G = Green Components.
Burn looked pretty bad on the board but just was blackened carbon coating material. Scraped and cleaned off quite well and clean solder pad for the new diode.
