    I removed the bulging caps. The other side looks fine.

    It wouldn't be the first time that caps placed too close to a heat sink got their guts cooked.

    Crap caps like these are more susceptible to heat though. In your case I would say it's just crap caps. Replace all of the caps in that area (the secondary side).

    That's not a FET it's a Schottky diode package. With two diodes connected as seen printed on the case (common cathode).

      Which way this board orients in the unit?

      Looks like the ac side is the other end so this end would be on top?

      Well, nothing like two "hot" elements baking these crap caps....
