Problems with Zippy 3x redundant PSU

I have a big 4U file server that I bought used. It has a triple redundant Zippy PSU, with 3 of the MIN-6250P modules in it.

The first time I turned it on, one of them blew. I was able to run it with two of them during testing, and didn't have any more trouble for a few days.

Today I powered it up and another one blew. I only had one hard drive installed, so I know it was not overloaded.

Do these have a history of blowing when they get old? The fans are all good, as well as the caps.

Luckily the motherboard seems to be fine after all this.

Re: Problems with Zippy 3x redundant PSU

Just removed it and found that it is a model MR3-6460P, 2+1 redundant 460W. This PSU costs about $400 new... Maybe it would be worth trying to fix the bad modules.

I would just put my 700W Zippy single PSU in it's place, but there are not enough connectors, and the brackets are different. I need about 20 hard drive power connectors since this is a 16 bay hot swap case.

Despite the problems, I can't complain. A 16 bay hot swap IDE case, with a dual Xeon 2.4Ghz server motherboard for $99 is a bargain I'd say, bad PSU or not. But I was pretty bummed, because I just got the rails installed in my rack and was ready to put the rest of the hard drives in. The test run with 8 drives went well, before the PSU blew out.

Better that it went now than at a critical time.

Ironically, my current server has gone down twice because of a bad connection somewhere, that caused an instant reboot whenever the rack was bumped. Luckily no data seems to have been lost.

Just like my ATX case that been in the same spot for around a year, but I somehow still seem to trip over it causing a reboot. Only one WD360 drive and no data loss here either. Maybe it's the NTFS?

                USB problems?
                by Hondaman
Recently I discovered my SSD died (OCZ/Toshiba 240 GB). It was in a USB enclosure, attached to the Linksys WRT-AC1200 router. Since then I removed the USB enclosure and attached it to my Win7 PC (AMD 8150 CPU, 970 chipset, 64 GB RAM). I also gathered one or two other USB enclosures to figure out what is going on.

(I suspect that I lost quite a few MP3 and FLAC files I recently ripped from my audio CDs, I think I lost very little un-replaceable stuff.)

I think it is IMPOSSIBLE for Win7 to have any problems with a USB enclosure as long as Win7 knows how to speak to the...

Ram Modules with undderfill - tricks for desoldering
                by ongobongo
I'm working on another Lenovo E14 gen 2 AMD here which has a ton of errors with the factory soldered DDR4 ram chips. I do have a donor board here from which I'd like to use the modules and swap them. Unfortunately, the modules are glued down with underfill, which i have never worked with before.
I tried with a lot of heat on the donor board but the modules won't come loose.
Are there any hint or tricks when it comes to dealing with underfilled chips/ic that could help here
                Thanks

Troubleshooting of redundant F750E-S0 Dell PowerEdge Server
                by omega
                Hello all,
as a beginner electronics hobbyist, after a few years I would like to place another post on this Forum section, given that I did not succeed in finding any useful advice among the other posts.

Over the last years, I have been using a PowerEdge Dell Server with two redundant PSUs, namely the 750W F750E-S0 ones (aka 06W2PW). Unfortunately, last summer one of them failed (perhaps owing to an overheating), and the server had for working to take into account the other one only. Of course I opened and tried to troubleshoot the failed PSU, but each cap I tested seemed to...

Zotac GTX 1080 8GB / No video / Error reported on all memory modules!
                by gabrielA7
                Hi guys!!

I have this video card on my bench, it turns on and the screen goes black!

I used MATS but it showed an error in all memory modules, when writing!

I once got a 1060 with the same symptom, all modules were defective, I rebaled the GPU and it stayed the same.

Remember that I have all the debts ok, 1.35 Vram and such!

Could the problem really be in the GPU?

                Could it be the BIOS?

                Thank you in advance!
