    Fortron FSP145-50NI microATX PSU

well.. got it for free.. wanted to use it in a HTPC project...
set top box DVD recorder with worn out laser (no spare lasers available.. thanks phillips -.-!) -> HTPC

    well.. symptoms:
tries to turn on (fan moves a bit) but seems to go into short circuit protection or OLP
5V standby is up and running fine at 5,12V

bridging green to GND (without a board, but with load on 5V & 12V (old HDDs)) results in the same minimal fan movement and nothing more..

replaced all secondary caps with GP Rubycons (didn't wanna waste my last ZL's in there.. gonna put those in when it works properly)
    no go..

got the secondary heatsink w. components out.. all checked ok. (well.. no shorts at least..)
got the tiny control PCB out and removed the yellow glue crap from it and the main PCB.. put it back together... still nothing...

the KA7912 (for -12V) seems to be ok too..

any ideas what else to check..?

Is the fan free to move? Some power supplies that I use will not power on if the fan won't start.

Edit: Just looked at the pics. Where's the fan on that thing?
A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.

The fan is on the top of the psu

Is the bottom of the pcb touching the case by any chance? Any bad soldering?

fan is OK. tested it already (i had to desolder the fans wires anyways..)

it's a standard 80mm fan in the top cover...

edit: PCB isn't touching the bottom. there's also a piece of plastic sheet under there..

soldering is OK.. not too sloppy too... resoldered some joints here and there that looked suspicious.. (and removed the wires to the voltage selector switch as it's not needed around here and they were getting on my nerves when i tried to get the PCB out lol)

I looked at your pictures - looks like a very "compact" PSU. From photos, I couldn't tell what chips were in it. Perhaps KA7500 and LM393? Take a close look and let us know what chips are on this board.
