Re: Reebok GT40s Treadmill power supply issue?
Hi Notallbad,
Did you find the cause of the humming sound?
I had same issue with my treadmill. I replaced diode ss310 bought off ebay. However the treadmill works as expected, there is this humming sound coming from the board. Its quite loud to be ignored when treadmill is powered 'ON' but not running. When running, the sound get suppressed. Not sure if I should replace the diode with another one.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi all
Sorry for bringing this thread back to life. Does anyone know how the cover comes off to get access to the motor control board? ThanksLeave a comment:

Re: Reebok GT40s Treadmill power supply issue?
Am having the same problem as most here but still not working. Initially no power from the main board, and thanks to this thread discovered DD3 was shorted.
After replacing it there were various voltages on the board, so I plugged in the head unit. This caused the powered supply to cycle through chirp-shutdown-chirp, assuming due to some over current issue.
The head unit seems to take ~8 volt that I measured on the connector, and confirmed by looking at the head unit that has a lm7805. Powered it up from my bench PS and it came on successfully drawing ~.15 amps, which seems reasonable.
Jumpered the power and gnd from the main board and the head-unit powers up OK. The data path seems to be a single opto isolated pin, one each way. If I plug in the power-supply-to-head-unit line everything still powers up with an error on the head unit. As soon as I plug in the head-to-ps line the power supply goes into shutdown.
Seems to be two power rails, one 15v, and one 5v. Pulled the 7815 and it appears Ok. The 7805 is surface mount, so don't want to touch that. Don't think they will be the problem as I expect it to be something downstream drawing too much current.
Haven't done much on the high voltage side, assuming that it hasn't powered that up yet, although in circuit measurements all seem ok.
Anyone seen any other thing likely to cause this.Leave a comment:

Re: Reebok GT40s Treadmill power supply issue?
Hi all, sorry for bringing up an old thread. I have the same beeping and flashing screen on my gt40s.
I've got the board out and on dd3 I get a reading of 0 across the diode does this mean its shorting out? On dd5 I get a reading of 325.
Also struggling to find somewhere to purchase a replacement ss310 diode.
Any help is appreciated

Hi I've a problem with my reebok gt40s treadmill it randomly keeps completely cutting out sometimes it will be fine haven't noticed a pattern with it,just abit scared to use it now as it stops dead when in use.
Going to have a look at the board later todayLeave a comment:

Re: Reebok GT40s Treadmill power supply issue?
just found this thread gents on Google, bought a faulty GT40S with the same symptoms and guess what DD3 was shorting! removed and the screen fired up then showed an E1 which i expected. Now to order a diode and hope to god i can remember how to solder.
Anyway i came on to say thanks Guys

Re: Reebok GT40s Treadmill power supply issue?
[QUOTE=balmesz001;939970]Hi All,
We had the very same symptoms on our treadmill. I quickly identified the power board as the source of the issue, so I decided to order a new one (it's £65 from Reebok). Fortunately the wife was smarter and googled the problem and she found this topic. I measured both SS310 diodes on the PCB and there was a short on DD3, so I ordered 10 spare diodes, replaced the faulty one and the treadmill is working again.
Thank you notallbad, you saved me time and money.
And shame on me, I'm an electrical engineer and was lazy to check the components as I was expecting a more complex problem.
BTW, before the treadmill stopped to work I heard a buzzing noise from the power supply
Hi Balmesz
I received the diodes today, same as yourself I replaced dd3 and the treadmill powered up fine. I gave it a 20 minute test and everything was ok. I haven't been able to find a schematic for the board but I'm guessing that dd3 is the output rectifying diode. Having seen how many people have had this fault I would love to see the schematic and try and figure out what is causing this fault. But all good here at the moment so thanks for your post.

[QUOTE=balmesz001;939970]Hi All,
I have just found this article, I too have the same problem and I have tested DD3 which is shorted. I have ordered a pack of the diodes and I'm waiting for them, but I wanted to ask you if this has still fixed the problem for you.
Regards

Re: Reebok GT40s Treadmill power supply issue?
I would check the parts directly connected to the motor, I believe there is a diode and a transistor mounted to the heatsink, check them first.Leave a comment:

Re: Reebok GT40s Treadmill power supply issue?
I connected the multi-meter to the negative and positive wires of the motor and ran on the treadmill. I got a voltage reading from the motor. The faster the motor turned the voltage reading increased.
It looks like the motor is good then...the board must be faulty.
Any thoughts?Leave a comment:

Re: Reebok GT40s Treadmill power supply issue?
Can you turn the motor by hand? disconnect the motor from the board and measure the motor resistance (across the red & black wires) If you can spin the motor by hand, connect your meter (use DC volts) across the motor wires and and spin it, you should read a voltage. If you do the motor is likely ok.Leave a comment:

Re: Reebok GT40s Treadmill power supply issue?
I have line voltage across AC1 & AC2 so there is power going into the board. The motor installed in this treadmill is 180V, I don't any reading from the motor terminals M- & M+. Does that mean the board is at fault?
Is there a way to test the motor?Leave a comment:

I am trying to fix a samsung washinmachine power supply main board.
I already replaced it with another one to fix the machine but i want to try understand the issue with the old board.
Therefore i hope to be able to get some help to explain what to check in order to troubleshoot.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

by sam_sam_samI have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails
I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time... -
by JimBanvilleThe sub developed a constant popping every couple seconds from woofer and power LED flickering with nothing but wall AC connected. Connecting an audio cable didn't change anything. It doesn't play but a second or two of audio in between the pops.
Opened it up and discovered the power supply is making a faint clicking or ticking sound.
I measured the amp's output to the woofer and it pulses up to 50mv DC to be driver. The pulses coincide with the power supply ticking/clicking.
I measured the power supply output going to the amp board and it too has this pulsing. Voltage cycles...-
