    Cyberpower 1200AVR problem.

Hello. You have no idea how excited i was to find a place that helps with this kind of stuff! Anyway, i'm having a problem with a UPS. Cyberpower CP1200AVR. So, it was working fine for months then out of nowhere would just stop switching to battery. The unit functions fine when powered from the wall, but as soon as the power goes out or i unplug it( I know its sorta of bad to do that with no ground and all, but it was for testing) it beeps and then dies completely. The battery's are pretty much brand new and they both show 13v with a multmeter, so its not them. I guess its something internal. I opened it up and nothing obvious stood out to me. No bulging caps. Nothing burned as far as i know. I just have no idea where to begin with this thing. I'll attach some pics of the main board. Thanks!

    Re: Cyberpower 1200AVR problem.

When the first plug the unit into the wall, and then hit power button, it should go into self test mode (running on battery) first to find out if the batteries are OK or not and also check if the load current is too high or not then if everything is fine then it goes into AC operating mode.
Did it do that at all?
We also need straight shot picture of the whole board top and bottom side and the whole in side of the unit, also front panel.
BTW, when the unit is plug in and you check the batteries Voltages, did you check the Voltage at the RED and Black with and without the batteries connected?

Sorry about the pictures. I'll upload them in a bit. As for self testing I used the program to self test when the unit was together and it would die immediately after starting the test. I tested the batteries separately not Hooked up to anything. I assume you mean the charging voltage? I forgot to take that before tear down. I'll reassemble and see what I get. What should I be looking for with/without butteries plugged in? Oh yeah. To answer your first question. I assume? When I powered it on it would just go into AC mode no problem. While plugged in, but immediately the test from the software or an actual outage/brownout causes it to die and not run on battery.

Testing battery without load is not good, you are just seeing no load Voltage of the batteries, bad battery can have high internal resistance and will still show good Voltage due to the fact that your DMM has 10M Input impedance. You need to hook up something like 12V car head lamp to it and test the Voltage.
The charger circuit is also a common failure in these CYBERPOWER due to bad caps.

OK, so i put it all back together and turned it on without the batteries. It cycled on and off a few times then just stayed on using battery and beeped every two seconds without batteries and while plugged in. I read the voltage from the battery leads while it did this. It was 27.3v. When i hooked the batteries up and got a reading it was also 27.3 plugged into the batteries. This time just the power on light is on and no beeping. OK. So, just plugged in small load and ran a self test. The voltage dropped to 25 volts for a second and then back to 27.3 all while the unit died and didn't run the load. It was just a small lamp.

Sounds like bad batteries to me. As I suggested, you need to test the battery by itself with load (12V lamp of some sort) connected to the battery and see if it still stays at 12V.

What are some items i can use around the house to test this? I don't have a 12v headlamp laying around. :/

Do you have 120V 100W incandescent bulb?
Hot resistance of the 100W lamp is 144 Ohms, the cold resistance will be about 10 Ohms so that will be about 1A load for the battery, so try that first. You can also check the cold resistance of the lamp you have around the house and parallel them to get more current as needed. See if it can deliver 1A first.

                  Re: Cyberpower 1200AVR problem.

Alright, so i just went to a place to test them as i don't have the equipment needed for that, and they are indeed dead. It holds a charge but not capacity. The guy said it's probably bad cells. So that answers that. Know of any good cheap batteries and where to get them that wont break the bank? Also, can i still use the UPS for the surge protection aspect or is it not a good idea to use without batteries?

Edit: Oh,yeah. So i forgot to ask about the UPS's behavior when it did work "properly". When i first bought the batteries i would notice that the UPS would randomly switch to battery then right back for no reason. My newer unit does not and did not do that at the same time. Is that normal? I'm wondering if the UPS it self might still be bad and kills batteries faster. They were decent Duracell batteries(or so i think they are good).

Did you try setting your sensitivity to low?

I have not, but i don't think the model in question lets me set that on the software as far as i can remember. I know my newer one can.

                        Cyberpower 1500AVR UPS repair
                        by quickname
I'd like to start out by thanking this forum for providing the info to be able to repair my 15 year old CP1500AVRLCD UPS. Here is all the info I gathered during my trouble-shooting and re-capping.

Like clockwork, I've had to replace the SLA batteries every 4 years. It was about that time and the UPS was acting like it needed new batteries... randomly shutting off with AC present, not being able to charge fully, and poor runtime when AC was removed. So, I replaced the batteries but noticed that it was not charging properly.

I decided to verify that the batteries were...

                        Hey there,
So I got a problem with my LG OLED TV (OLED55B8PLA).

the problem is that the tv won‘t power on some times, the led stays red and won‘t even blink, just solid red when I try to turn it on. USB devices connected won‘t light up. 1/4 of the screen (left side) shows some green „clouds“ that are getting brighter everytime I turn the tv on and after some tries the tv finally turns on. Sometimes it takes 10 tries and some times 100 or even more tries.

When the tv is on, everything works fine, hdmi outputs, usb inputs, wifi, bluetooth, etc is working...

I am working on an A1708 MacBook Pro 13 / Mid 2017 with a keyboard problem. I replaced the palmrest and installed a new battery, which is when the fan started.

When powering on the MacBook, the fan would spin for a few seconds and go off, and nothing would show off on the screen. However, when I disconnected the battery, the laptop would work.

So, I ordered a new battery, but the problem was the same. I spent hours figuring out the problem, but the logic board eventually stopped working.

The next step was to order a replacement logic board - but...
