open resistors, or resistors that changed value outside the tolerance. PWMs that don't switch. Blown up gate drive circuit (when the Mosfet is shorted).

Some of these channels have SMPS repair beyond the simple bloated capacitor, but none that are dedicated.

Any practical examples of success repairs
Are there available( anywhere) any successful repairs of switched-mode power supplies?
I found a few on YouTube but they were rather simple( e.g.changing dried capacitors ). I would like to see( and learn)how to solve more serious faults and not those trivial ones that can be seen at the first look.

I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for practical courses for troubleshooting pc motherboards especially laptops in Europe, if possible in France. I have been a computer network system administrator and a corrector of administration modules for automated programs under Unix. But I really miss the practical "ops" side of troubleshooting. So I would like to start from the beginning: 1.8V, 3.3V, 5V and 19V tests for example, etc...

Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.
Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting... -

My issue isn't massive, but I'd like to get this solved since I'm trying to fix a friend's laptop.
A botched BIOS update by Lenovo bricked this laptop, so I used my BIOS programmer to reflash the BIOS on it and saved it from an early demise. All is good now, but the BIOS reports the S/N, MTM and UUID...
