Re: SATA /PATA external supply ?

lose the "earth" symbols for the returns in the primary side

those do not connect to the EGC, but to the floating common of the input cap

doesn't matter anyway, cheep stuff is a latent hazard- see how there's no EGC bond to the secondary common? when that cheep, poorly insulated transformer shorts between windings, [i]you or your computer (and ext. HDD) become the return path

the above are power supplies just as much as the ones for the ext. HDD adapters- you better believe that same pertains to all of them

OP, I'd smash that shock hazard (or worse, your line voltage is 240V to gnd) you have now... not even worth it- the only reason you have it is because it's something that "sneaked in" or was "dumped."

Goontron, as long as this cheep shit exists, we're gonna have "these kind" of posts...

ok, I'll show you guys, the bottom one, it's terrible PCB...I need to fix it....

What's the value in circuit between E (emitter) and C (collector) of 9014 and 9015 when I test with multimeter ?

    FET is definitly burned....

the switcher is a pair of 9014 and 9015, FET 4N60, are they all burned ?
Yea, I want to fix it but not for HDD, I'll use it for something else...

    @zx8401....tx for the schematic

Those things don't fix.... They are dangerous when working, and would need a complete redesign to be fixed. However, they do make for a great learning experience because they are so simple. Look for bad solder, they are known for it. We need to see the bottom of the board. The switcher does look cooked, as well as the resistor in-between the cap and the MOSFET.

But for the sake of your self, your computers, and your data, don't use it once you've fixed it. You're better off with an older computer PSU.

    SATA /PATA external supply ?

    Guys,

Anyone knows about this SATA/PATA external supply ?
    I suspect 4N60 FET burn....
Fuse blown, I've change it, is it possible if the small transistor frequency generator broken as well ?

    cheers
