    Cyberpower DX800E UPS bad cap

USP is 4 years old, simptoms were:
    - on power loss it would not switch to battery but reported error instead
    - sometimes the pwrstat service would turn off the computer on boot, as soon as the service started, UPS told it battery was low and it would issue a shutdown signal

First I thought it was the battery, opened it up and found a bulged cap. It seems it also leaked brown fluid around the case (last picture).
It was Su'scon 4700uF 16V SD series (low ESR), replaced with Yageo SC series 4700uF 16V 16x25mm that I had at home. The big cap is right under the small PCB with fuses.
Now, the other caps are all su'scon SK series - standard, not low esr.
Cap replaced, cleaned interior with alcohol, UPS works fine for a couple of weeks now
Now, should I replace the other caps too?

    Here is the list:
    5x 22uF 50V 5x10mm
    3x 47uF 25V 5x10
    1x 100uF 25V ~6x15
    2x 1uF 50V ~5x10

I don't know how this crappy brand behaves in UPS, it is 4 years old, but the battery (old one) holds somewhere around 10 min on my machine running linux and powering PC, LCD monitor, ADSL modem and router. It has a console utility, it is a proprietary blob but works fine. Can be scripted easily to send email on power failure and another email on batt low and then shutdown a machine nicely. Enough for me. Have a new battery I got from a friend and if I have to open it again, would probably replace all su'scons.
What do you think, is it worth the effort?

I would replace the other caps as well.
I replaced lots of bad cap in Cyberpower, see pictures of the bad caps I tested, as you can see, lots of them are failed due to ESR and lost the capacitance. I replace them with LOW ESR Panasonic FM/FC series. Some of those caps are used in the charger circuits.

So, the capacitance was reading ok, but the ESR was too high, were those low esr caps or standard?
Can i use low ESR caps in my UPS?

Those crappy caps in the pictures are su'scon SK series. I replace them with better brand, PANASONIC low ESR, 105c FM/FC series.
Some of them read 31uF instead of 47uF (+/- 20%).

          Must Power crap.

Some of the smaller caps go bad after about 5 years. But it is incredibly difficult to replace them. The paths are too tiny and often when you pull the cap out a piece just disappears. I do not know if it gets torn off, maybe it just dissolves in solder, who knows from what they make it, I don't believe it is pure copper. The transformer has aluminium winding so everything is possible.

Those caps are general purpose, I use Nichicon VZ or NCC KMG instad. They are ten times better anyway.

Re: Cyberpower DX800E UPS bad cap

I saw some Panasonic FCs at a local shop (everything except 1uF cap). I could try to recap with those like budm suggested.
Hope the low esr would not cause problems

              1uf FC series are dicontinued.
