Trust PW-5500 570W dead. Who is the OEM?

    First, a label shot:
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1434896244
Something is missing. Can you tell?

I noticed that the add on board of the Trust psu is the same with the board of the Bliss A-600 that c_hegge reviewed here.

    Bliss A-600:

So, who is the OEM? Is that psu worth a repair?

XHY-400QH-BC is written on PCB. Google doesn't return anything useful.

It's made by this company: http://www.sinhuiyuan.com/ The real company is XHY power, but if you type in http://www.xhy-power.com.cn/ it redirects to the first link I posted. They JUST redid their website a few weeks ago, so there might have been some sort of acquisition.

Something is missing. Can you tell?
PPFC coil and 5VSB output rating?

I think this thing is worth repair. I just recapped one similar. ( https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=46443 ) I like the heatsinks on this one.

    Is yours not functioning?

You are right! They are made from the same OEM. And according to c_hegge's review they are not that bad...... when they work of course.

You found it! No 5vsb rating

It's completely dead! But I think I found something:
      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1434932101
That resistor is burnt and open. I wonder what could have caused this. I checked every capacitor including the tiny ones and they were in specs. The only cap that I had difficulty measuring was the 5vsb critical cap, located on an add on board between the 5vsb transistor and the 5vsb transformer.:
      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1434932723
As you can also see the primary transistors are 2x 13009 from unknown manufacturer.

It is a PPFC and dual fan psu:
      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1434932455
      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1434932455
Fortunately the fans are not directly connected to 12V, they are thermally controlled.

The soldering looks good to me:
      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1434932541

The primary caps are 680uF "Fhy", but their real capacitance is 560uF and 562uF
      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1434933041

There are no varistors installed for surge protection.

The label didn't lie about the dual 12V output. The add on board takes care of that with AS393P-E1 IC:

      https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...1&d=1434933338

      12V rectification is done with 2x F16C20C, while 5V and 3.3V use 2xS30D45C.

Every output has coil and the caps are 2x2200uF for 3.3V and 5V and 1x3300uF for 12V.

Why is a coil hiding inside the feedback transformer?????

Been just yesterday doing some crazy shit (sticking 6 big 4pin snap-in caps instead of five even bigger 5pin ones) so I took measurement and…about 720 uF. They are brand new (well, older stock) Panasonic THA 820/450. I would call those input caps OK, these meters just measure them lower…

          This is a nice unit!

Hmmm, interesting though that an "LYPxxxxxxx" number is on the PCB, usually that means LongYiPower, but this is definitely is the same platform as my XHY Power unit.

Have you replaced the open resistor yet? If you get it working, this thing is totally worth a full recap, add MOVs, and maybe upgrade 12V silicon to 20A each. Those Ever Cool fans are usually good but they usually use greese and might need to be oiled.

Why is a coil hiding inside the feedback transformer?????
          Here is momaka's theory:

My guess is they are *trying* to pick up stray flux from the core of the feedback traffo. But I somehow doubt that will work. If this really is for OPP, I will be very surprised if it works at all.
Which pins does it feed to on the PWM controller?

Maybe LongYiPower just makes the boards themselves?

It's normal, fhy use the next capacitance and put that on the cap instead of the real one, I have a couple 330s that are 220s

How can I be sure that my EC chip is dead?

                  Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

So I have a cheap non working ATX PSU that I was learning to repair a decade ago. At the time, it blew the main fuse, bridger rectifier, NTC, and primary 9A 900V MOSFET. Replaced all except the MOSFET. 5VSB came back online. Then I poked around in it so much, measuring components one by one to a point I accidentally made the 5VSB circuit primary side went bang. Blown the AP8022 (Viper22A) PWM chip, along with a low resistance resistor and the PC817 opto isolator. I replaced them all.

In the process of poking around, I also lost a zener diode that stabilize the voltage coming from...

                  FSP300-60GTF - no 5VSB, PS_ON; 5VSB carnage
                  by kotel studios
                  Hi,

Finally replaced all of the shorted 4148's and resistors and an blown tl431 on my FSP300-60GTF after 5VSB going crazy and destroying it self. Those components also made the secondary transistors appear shorted (while in reality they weren't).
Powered it on through my dim bulb tester and they (bulbs) only flash once meaning primary caps are getting charged, but that's it. No 5VSB, PS_ON voltages.
I am sure I have replaced the components correctly and that there weren't any shorted/blown traces left.

Any ideas where to go next?

                  hello guys,

                  i need help to repair a edm-033 ps2
history : as always hdmi port and usb ports destroyed after unplugged
after change them, ps5 dead too : 1 beep, no blue light. after inspection 1.8v power was shorted, and because of dead panasonic chip. after remove it : no short anymore
                  so i changed it
now i have got 5v stby,, 3.3v stby, 3.3v power, 1.8v power and no short on them
but the ps5 is dead again : 1 beep, near 10 seconds with power lines and then off, no blue light ...

i don't see any projection of liquid metal on pcb.
                  ...

                  Finding a dead short component
                  by Beton
                  Hi guys!
I searched for the term "dead short" in the forum but no specific thread came up however if I'm just blind and couldn't see the thread talking about this please forward me to that direction.
So my problem is I don't know how to find the source of a dead shorted voltage rail. Dead short = ~0 ohm resistance.
I have two VGAs (HD 4850 and HD 4870), both dead shorted to ground on the memory rail. I have the boardview file for the 4870 and the memory rail consists around ~7892346 capacitors...
I have a bench PSU and if I try to inject voltage the voltage...
