Okay...any ideas what value was it?

Re: Just got another L&C.....
Before replacing the fuse, check with the diode mode of your multimeter the 4 diodes, the 2 switching transistors, the 5vsb transistor and anything else that could have gone bad. The 2003 IC could be bad too. Check it and if most of its pins look shorted then you can assume it is bad.
Also check the underside of PCB and post a photo of the soldering.
Now,more pics as you asked:
Replaced fuse and NTC thermistor
Replaced 2N60A transistor w/ thermal pad
Solder side (brown stuff is lots of rosin core I used)
The transistor w/thermal pad and NTC thermistor came from a Codegen 200X 350W PSU I discarded.Last edited by Dan81; 03-29-2015, 12:04 PM.Leave a comment:

Re: Just got another L&C.....
Well, what can I do then? Replace the fuse and the thermistor? Or replace both and then proceed with replacing the switching transistors (guess they're the ones on the heatsink next to the primary caps)?Leave a comment:

THE ntc thermistor. If it cracks it indicates something is shorted.Leave a comment:

Re: Just got another L&C.....
I don't think it's that either. I've had a Premier like this one with the switching transistors shorted and it wouldn't turn on at all. Just a fan twitch and that was all.
I'd say the 5A fuse it has would have been bad itself, but not sure about that.
Also,I checked the green thingy next to it (does anyone know what is it?) and it's cracked.Leave a comment:

The caps look ok. Maybe the switching transistors shorted.Leave a comment:

Just got another L&C.....
...and it blew.
Fuse blew when I plugged it in,and it also TRIPPED. Few sparks went like 4th of July's fireworks.
PSU is ANS LC-B350ATX. Has voltage selector (set to 230V btw),chip of the year 2003,diodes on a bracket, our usual 4 diode treatment, all the signs of a PSU worse than Powmax.
Strange thing is the fan is a Ruilian Science RDM8025SA. IIRC Deer/L&C love using Globe Fans,so this is quite weird.
Also, have a laugh at the output it claims:
3.3V - 28A
5V - 35A
+12V - 16A
-12V - 0.8A
-5V - 0.3A
+5VSB - 2A
A shot of the carnaige. Look at the blown fuse. It has a bit of copper wire underneath it for a reason I really don't understand.

by brightest_zHi All - I'm in the midst or reprogramming the bios on my gen1 Surface Laptop Studio and I accidentally blew away 2 resistors nearby the bios. I don't have another board to measure values of the missing resistors and schematics aren't available, bbut the bios is a 6x5mm Winbond WSON8, W25R256JWPQ model. The traces are conductive to Pins 3 and 7 (IO2 & IO3 respectively) so I have reason to believe they are 10k pull up resistors since IO2&3 pins are used for Quad SPI instructions.
Does anyone with more knowledge, and experience than I, know if this is the case?

by Kurgan77I found a short on a mosfet in the vrm and used my air station to remove the bad component. and after viewed my work and noticed that had also blew the cap above it off as well... it went to cap heaven. I don't need the boardview file just what cap values are needed to replace the component. This is on a gigabyte r927xoc-4gd Windforce. I am a novice at repairing as that was a rookie mistake, + side is removal of the shirted package cleared up the short.1 Photo

by chth96I mistakely pluged 100v japanese retro game console to 220v outlet.
So It seems that glass fuse and varistor have been blew up.
I can identify that voltage and ampere value of glass fuse(250V LF 1.6A),but It is impossible to identify varistor type in my sega saturn PSU(YAMAHA 35M07U XR258)
Is there any way to identify varistor type in my sega saturn PSU?
Any reply would be appreciated.
EDIT:
It seems that I finally found out what type this black varistor is. It is Panasonic ERZV05D221 “ZNR” Transient/Surge Absorbers (Type D) Varistor Voltage...2 Photos -
by eccerr0rI was playing with a 2n3055 as a voltage dropper circuit with a zener diode, and accidentally pumped 4A into the base in a common emitter configuration.
The transistor instantly blew and shorted all ways around. No smoke (TO-3) but the transistor gets tossed into the round file.
*sigh* oh well. -
by shanedev93Spot welder capacitor blew up should just replacing them fix it? The board is very dirty gonna remove it and clean it an see if I notice anything wrong that could cause this issue.
