Re: Antec TPII-480 replacement caps ?

FWIW, before researching Badcaps and making my original post, I considered a 4700uf 10v offering from Macau and asked "brand & series of capacitor in size 10 x 30 will you supply"

They replied Sanyo or OST, then sent me a picture of the Sanyo (attached)

I suspect the only difference between their Sanyo and OST is the sleeve - can't see any point asking for more pictures of top & bottom

Before they got so good at counterfeiting UCC, Sanyo was their staple... I'm pretty sure old stock Sanyo is now pretty much unobtainable and all you can get is Suncon branded, so anything that says Sanyo on it is most probably fake.

eBay used to have about a 50/50 ratio of new old stock to counterfeit caps. These days it's something like 90/10.

That sanyo looks fake. the colours on the sleeve look wrong. Real sanyos usually are greener than that
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

          yea, fake.

sanyo are a lighter green and the gold print actually looks like gold - not bronze-paint.

Not to mention that according to the WG datasheet, there is no 4700uF WG series part.

Don't confuse the picture with WG series, which is what I intend to use, in 3300uf 6.3v, as replacements

That picture was supplied in response to a question by a different, Macau based, eBay vendor who are offering 4700uf 10v caps

Re: Antec TPII-480 replacement caps ?

Well, I substituted four Sanyo WG 3300uf 6.3v into it, and connected up my recalcitrant A8V Deluxe https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...958#post450958

Started up without problems, and all voltages looked OK in BIOS display

Tried various tasks for a day and a half - no issues, A8V started every time, voltages continued to look OK

Another try with the A8V this morning - wouldn't start the power supply

But power supply worked fine with another board

                Pronouncing this a successful fix

                Thanks everyone who contributed
