    Power Supply/Crossover Question

The attached pics are from a Tandberg powered speaker. The amp is a separate housing from the speaker and directly connects to the speaker via the 10 connectors along the edge.

The speaker housing is sealed and has two Seas drivers and a tweeter.

Any idea why they would use 10 connectors to connect the speaker to the amp?

Can you tell if a crossover for the speaker is built into this amp?

    Thanks for your time.

    Re: Power Supply/Crossover Question

Judging by how many connectors go to the speaker itself, I'd say the crossover is before the amplifiers. The crossover after the amplifiers, but before the speakers, is quite inefficient, and can reduce sound quality.

Also, because there is a texas instruments DSP chip on there, that sugguests the same thing I said above.

      Re: Power Supply/Crossover Question

      Thanks for the response.
Actually only six of the connectors go into the speaker housing.
From what you can see, is there a crossover built into this board?

My reason for asking is that I would just like to get rid of this amp and use the speaker as passive. You would not expect to find a crossover in the speaker housing?

      Thanks again.

        Re: Power Supply/Crossover Question

Two Seas drivers plus a tweeter - coincidence or not, those happen to have exactly six terminals between them. Is this an MTM arrangement (mid-tweeter-mid)?

Seeing as there are 5 chip-amps, i'm gonna hazard a guess and say they're two pairs, each bridged for each mid-woofer, and one chip-amp for the tweeter

So... No, the odds of you finding a passive crossover inside the speakers are rapidly approaching nil, i'm afraid.

More likely to be tri-amp powered speaker set up, Amplifier per speaker, and it uses active electronics cross-over to separate audio frequency bands (LO, MID, HI) to feed each speaker's amplifier. model number?

Thanks for taking the time to look at it.
Its a Tandberg TTC1-02 Amp/Speaker combination from a video conferencing system.
Seas are great drivers and it looked like it would make a nice center. Pretty sophisticated design for a voice range speaker. Now I see why they charge so much for this stuff. Not sure what the tweeter is.

Tweeter is the high frequency speaker, sitting between the two speakers as you can see in the picture. Only $20?

I meant that I don't know the brand and model of the tweeter.
I am not surprised that they are $20. I wouldn't pay the $20 plus $38 shipping though.
This Tandberg Conferencing stuff was crazy expensive new. They wanted $328.00 for a wheel for one of the carts.

What size woofers are those, 5"? That would make them L15RLY/P's, which are worth quite a bit more than 20$ on their own, each

                  (Madisound seem to have'em for 88$ a pop: http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com...m-cone-woofer/ )

I've had a pair of those drivers in my closet for... way too many years already, "still" waiting for some "free funds" to get some proper boxes done for'em

Is this amp just for one speaker, or is it multi-speaker (AKA, stereo, right and left channels, etc...)?

                      Re: Power Supply/Crossover Question

Old post but did you ever do anything with this? I have had one in the storage room for a while and just pulled it out again.

Looks like really high quality 5 1/2 drivers.
                      Not sure about the tweeter.

Connected an IPhone to the audio in and it sounded pretty good.

                      Some amplifier hum at idle.

It has a "differential in" 3 pin that looks like a balanced connector and a stereo out with the same.

It looks like it should be useful, just not sure how.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                        Assuming...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                        by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
                        by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

                        Hello everyone !

I'm trying to repair the power supply of my Elipson W35 Bluetooth speaker. The problem is that the PWM circuit has no reference "it's a smd marked U4 on the pcb. The reference has been erased at the factory. Here are some photos of the circuit; could you please help me identify the circuit? Thank you, and have a great day

Important point: the resistor R108 marked R100 smd mount is a replacement and I'm note sur if it's the good value, it's relay the mosfet to the ground capacitor 450v
                        the mosfet is a :SVF12N65F
                        I also search...

                        by shamsudeen
Hi all, I just need to know that, can i use SMPS type power supply to test and short circuit detection on a laptop motherboard?
I saw 95% of repair guys are using only Linear bench power supply. linear bench power supply is pricy, thats why i planned to get one SMPS supply.

i know that in linear power supply the noise will be very low comparing to SMPS supply....
