Re: Help with DE-5000 results
Given this data sheet. What is the appropriate test frequency for 1. Capacitance, 2. ESR
https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/e66c8dabc8e78077f376e10df5a37c01.pdf
Rule of thumb appears to be 120Hz for over 10uF and 1kHz for under 10uF. ?

Help with DE-5000 results
I am trying to use the DE-5000 to test some caps. I am new to this and would appreciate some input.
Junzl 100uF 400V
In Cs Mode:
100hz Cap 88.17 ESR .9
120hz Cap 87.95 ESR .8
1khz Cap 85.6 ESR .57
10khz Cap 77.1 ESR .52
100khz Nothing "OL"
Rs
100hz .90
120hz .83
1khz .57
10khz .51
100khz.49
What results should I be looking at and why?
The datasheet seems to spec 100khz?
ESR meters like the Atlas ESR70 or the Blue appear...

Re: Power Supply/Crossover Question
Old post but did you ever do anything with this? I have had one in the storage room for a while and just pulled it out again.
Looks like really high quality 5 1/2 drivers.
Not sure about the tweeter.
Connected an IPhone to the audio in and it sounded pretty good.
Some amplifier hum at idle.
It has a "differential in" 3 pin that looks like a balanced connector and a stereo out with the same.
It looks like it should be useful, just not sure how.

Re: RCA TV LED32B30RQ Flashing Screen
I just clipped the wire on mine. No more flashing and the picture looks great. Thanks.
Does anyone who has been running it this way for a long time have any feedback?
Is the actual failure the LED's or the logic board?
It has to be a design flaw.

Re: Cap Kits?
Purchased a kit from this guy.
They only use Panasonic, Nichicon and Rubycon.
18 Caps for $15 with free shipping. Arrived in two days.
Seemed like a better idea than driving 10 miles across town only to find that some were not in stock or getting RS crap.
All of the failed caps were CapXon, 2/3 of them swollen.
Replaced them all and much to my surprise the TV came right up.
I have an old Weller that never has tinned right. Can someone recommend a reasonably priced...

Cap Kits?
The Olevia 242 PS has about 10 Caps. On Ebay they sell the kit with all of them for $15.
Is this pretty reasonable or is it better to just go to the parts store and buy singles?
Anyone here do kits for LCD's?
Thanks

Re: Power Supply/Crossover Question
I meant that I don't know the brand and model of the tweeter.
I am not surprised that they are $20. I wouldn't pay the $20 plus $38 shipping though.
This Tandberg Conferencing stuff was crazy expensive new. They wanted $328.00 for a wheel for one of the carts.

Re: Power Supply/Crossover Question
Thanks for taking the time to look at it.
Its a Tandberg TTC1-02 Amp/Speaker combination from a video conferencing system.
Seas are great drivers and it looked like it would make a nice center. Pretty sophisticated design for a voice range speaker. Now I see why they charge so much for this stuff. Not sure what the tweeter is.

Re: Power Supply/Crossover Question
Thanks for the response.
Actually only six of the connectors go into the speaker housing.
From what you can see, is there a crossover built into this board?
My reason for asking is that I would just like to get rid of this amp and use the speaker as passive. You would not expect to find a crossover in the speaker housing?
Thanks again.

Power Supply/Crossover Question
The attached pics are from a Tandberg powered speaker. The amp is a separate housing from the speaker and directly connects to the speaker via the 10 connectors along the edge.
The speaker housing is sealed and has two Seas drivers and a tweeter.
Any idea why they would use 10 connectors to connect the speaker to the amp?
Can you tell if a crossover for the speaker is built into this amp?
Thanks for your time....

Re: Deltec PRA1000 Buzz
I do appreciate your help.
I removed it, removed the mylar tape and dipped it in "Red Insulating Varnish" for about 30 minutes. After it dried I added a couple more coats.
It helped to quiet it down some but it still seems to be the loudest component on the board. I know UPS's have a certain amount of hum and several components make what I consider normal noise. Funny, the transformers seem quiet.
Thanks again.

Re: Deltec PRA1000 Buzz
Yes, I replaced the batteries and tested it with a dual halogen work lite for a load. It ran about 10 minutes and the battery only dropped one notch. I was going to use it for HT but at times the buzz is just too loud. It would not even be a concern in a server room or wiring closet. Sometimes the buzz is just the normal low hum. I have too much into the batteries to just replace it. Wouldn't replacing the component make as much sense as buying electronic varnish?

Should that be replaced or is it a candidate for nail polish?

Re: Deltec PRA1000 Buzz
I used a flex tube to try to isolate the sound. It was loudest near these components. The Caps and Transformers seem to be reasonably quiet....

Deltec PRA1000 Buzz
This is an older Deltec with new batteries. Everything seems to work fine.
At idle with AC power and switched on it has a buzz. The buzz is not present when running on batteries and does not appear to be caused by the charging cycle. The buzz would be acceptable in a server room or network closet but is just a bit too loud for HT.
I have read a lost of posts about people throwing a lot of parts at UPS's trying to quiet them down without much success.
Has anyone actually reduced or eliminated the buzzing in an older UPS?
Thanks
