Sightings of bulging/leaking 400/450V capacitors in power supplies

If anyone has pictures of power supplies (especially AC adaptors) having bulging/leaking 400/450V electrolytic capacitors, please post them here.

I've only seen one bulging 450V unit (22uF Jenpo).
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

Never seen an high voltage cap bulging, but have had a bunch of smaler G-Luxons wich are bad, but no obviouse sign of failure (abouth 10uF 450v). Some Acer TFT`s do feature them too.

Here is the photo of bulging 450V,330uF Electrolythic capacitor. It is from SONY Trinitron 15" TV. Main rectifier short circuit causing AC supplied to the cap...

High AC voltages tend to be rough on lytics, . LK is a good basic series for snap-ins.

Power Supplies should be boring: No loud noises, no bright flashes, and no bad smells.

HP Inkjet printer main board bulging cap failure
          by howardc64
Fixed a 10yo HP inkjet with a bulging cap on the digital computer power rails (1 to 5V). Unstable voltages causing these inkjets to not boot properly or crash quickly. Seems like more and more of these are showing up nearing the 10 year mark. Board design seem to look similar for many of these printers.

Vintage AT Power Supplies - Selecting Capacitors
          by iMic
          Hi,

Back after a long hiatus with some old power supplies that need repairing. I've recently picked up a couple of 386SX systems, two 486DX systems, a SiliconGraphics Indy and an iMac G3 that either have verified leaking capacitors in their power supplies, or are likely to in the near future. For the sake of simplicity, instead of tackling all at once, I'm starting with the 386's and one of the 486's.

The 386's power supplies are Seasonic SS4040A's, with caps that are visibly leaking, and 9 replacement caps per unit are required. Most appear to be from the Rubycon...

Elite Capacitors? (450v 47uf power board Toshiba Vestel TV)
          by slybunda
anyone heard of these caps before? at first glance i mistook them to be Elna caps but closer look and it was elite. not sure if they are known failure prone brand.
also they are 47uf and 450v. why are they so large in height? i can get replacement 450v 47uf caps that are a quarter the height. what am i missing here?

if i were to replace them what should i be looking for?

they are on the power board of a toshiba (vestel) tv power board.

          Slightly Bulging Capacitors
          by Hitto
Would you consider a slightly bulging capacitor defective if it measures perfectly and it is brand-new? To be honest, they are all equally like this: vent is not totally flat but they have very low E.S.R. and VLOSS is negligible.

So, everything seems perfect apart from the vent looking a bit "strange". They are genuine capacitors, BTW.

The bad thing is that they are 400V capacitors so testing them just to check how much they last would mean using them on the primary of a power supply, which means the risk of damaging the whole circuit.

          What do you...

          HP Docking Stations Power Supplies...?
          by SolomonMan
          All,
I recently purchased for a colleague and myself two used HP Docking Stations. They are for home use and are exact model as the ones we use at work for our laptops. We are both Software Developers.

Anyways these docks are HP Model 5TW10UT#ABA.

Unfortunately they did not come with there Power supplies (PSU) and I got them reasonable from eBay.

I purchased 2 new from Amazon After Market Power Supplies(PSU). Same Voltage and Same Amperage and in fact it mentions on the Amazon page they are supported for these docks as well.
