Worth saving ? analyze this psu for me please

Ok, this is for Dell laptops - sold by MicroBattery, was surprised when I open it and saw cb.

Is this worth saving ? 3.34A really ?

Build quality seems low for me,both screws looks used, thin wires and dirty cb with what looks like dry flux.

Tell me what you think and please give comments based on pictures.

Absolute junk, and check out that counterfeit input primary cap. Toss it in the rubbish bin.
"We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

Holy crap, we must have a hundred of these at work. Just found this in the garbage bin and decided to take a look inside.

I always thought MicroBattery was quality stuff !

Sometimes you need to break shit to fix it.... Thats why my lawnmower doesn't have a deadman switch or engine brake anymore

                Everything.

For starters, the fact that this underrated junk pile is sold under "circumstances" alleging it's "equivalence" to the genuine PS is reason enough.

                Undersized wiring
                Undersized traces
Questionable isolation- looks like line side traces are a little close to the secondary
Cans of shit that "look like" caps
Nichicon VYs haven't been made for years, so the input cap is basically an "F-you"
                Components with long leads, etc.

And most obviously, the board is too small for the case, indicating they were trying to "get rid of" their junk in something else...

You are giving me the impression that you might not like what you see hehe - the sticker on the housing is actually quite good, I still have glue on my fingers.

'underrated junk pile' - how to calculate this rating ?

Who knows if those caps are even low ESR. On Fullcap's datasheet it says they are, but in the specs they only list dimensions! No impedance or ripple current info... And the soldering on that thing is horrid

To even trust such datasheets is like trusting ASUS stuff, without redundancy, on the space shuttle!

For me, "funny caps" simply count as "missing components" from the board.

Might as well just install jumper wire!

I'm sure someone smarter than us on this forum could give a thorough explanation, but off the top of my head, the brick has insufficient input protection, and what input protection exists is undersized. The output circuits are underdeveloped and insufficient. The capacitors are sorely lacking and probably don't even meet their stated spec.

I should also point out that the circuit board is not filling the entire case for a reason - they use the same PCB on all their adapters and simply mold different sized cases for different laptop models in order to "match" - at least visually - the original adapter.

These adapters are actual fire hazards, and I have personally seen one after it had been severely burned.

Don't know how to, have a few multimeters, esr meter and a dso but is far far away from any knowledge on things like this.

Ok, had to measure these caps and try to start it up - was surprised that it managed to power my old inspiron.

With my oem Dell 90W powersupply bios reports 90W psu used, with this MicroBattery psu bios reports psu is a 150W model

Had to take a close up of the output section - lovely soldering job.

                                    Perhaps they meant 15W??
