    Re: Wtf is this???

looks to be a way of selecting 12 output it may also to make it more stable at high 5v loads and low 12v loads

hmm i think it might be more to do with how the 12v output rails are setup.

I was thinking maybe but I'm not sure how they'd go about doing that in such a cheap PSU

          Re: Wtf is this???

It looks to turn off the -5V. Also, considering that it (supposedly) has multiple +12V rails, maybe it's an OCP on/off switch.

            Re: Wtf is this???

It combines the multiple 12v rails into one. Topower has been selling units with that for a while under a multitude of different marketing names.

              Windows 11 buying advice needed
              by Hondaman
My mother may soon need to upgrade from Win7 (to continue safe browsing, e-mail, and office tasks, without a printer). Right now, she uses an Intel Core2Quad 9550 CPU (not sure of motherboard). Video is either the Radeon 6670 or 6770, completely air-cooled, with fins like a motorcycle engine (I think I pointed a 120mm fan at it). PSU is probably Seasonic, still running after 14 years (I choose quality). I am not sure of the RAM, or the PCI-e wifi chip. Probably 8 GB or 16 GB. Perfect for WIndows 7.

She does not want to switch to Linux. And she does not want to use a laptop because...

MSI GTX 1070Ti problem with PCIE?
              by ca-gamer
              Hi All,

              I have a problem with my 1070Ti.

9/10 times card fails to post in PCIE x16 socket. When it finally posts it shows random PCIE reading in GPU-Z. Rarely it shows x16, most of the times it will be either x4 or x1, sometimes x8. But still it will crash with BSOD in x16 slot sometimes even after 1 minute and sometimes it will happen after an hour.

Moving card to x4 PCIE slot improves it. It will post most of the time (I would say 8/10 times) and I can even play games for hours at full speed (I haven't spotted and slow downs in FPS vs x16). However randomly...

Lenovo Thinkpad X13 Gen 3 AMD locked bios
              by fulaphex
hello friends - I have purchased a used Thinkpad X13 Gen 3 AMD variant and only after making the purchase I realised that the BIOS is locked. I have spent a bit of time browsing the forum and from what I understand it's possible the modify the BIOS that is currently on the machine and remove the password from that BIOS. For dumping the BIOS from the laptop I have ordered this ch341a programmer. Below is a photo of the password prompt:

I have taken the cover off the laptop and I found that "serial number" is "GM-0358MB" and "type number" is "21CN-S19U00"....

Topower SilentEZ 350W: what did I screw?
              by Behemot
              Been recapping this Topower https://www.hardwareinsights.com/top...z-350w-review/

Besides the usual I decided to put bigger input cap in but I got only large ones last week so besides drilling the holes for snap-in cap, I also cleared the space around a bit. What may actually be the problem is the small toroid coil between the input cap and the switching FET heatsinks: https://www.hardwareinsights.com/wp/.../Zevnitr-2.jpg I removed the plastic base, covered the coil with heatshrink and soldered directly into the board. Since than it has been assembled...
