    Mxr-200p - 1996 Psu after 10 years

    MXR-200P AT PSU:

It's from 1996 and was never opened:

Some dust inside but not very much:

Fuhjyyu caps - they're still good!

    Looks better after cleaning

The PCB is really nicely made:

I mean really - board clean and nice soldering:

The PSU still works fine - including the Ruilian Science fan!

Interesting! Are both the switcher transistors and the output rectifiers on that one heatsink?

The switching transistors are completely plastic (including the tab). One rectifier (a big one - probably for 5V) is mounted to the same heatsink. Another rectifier (created from 2 diodes, probably for 12V) is on separate heatsink.

Funny, the insides of that PSU remind me of an ancient 'Sunshine' AT power supply I trashed not too long ago. One of the Fuhjyyus inside had a 'peace' vent on top! (And believe it or not, none of the PSU's caps were buldged, though the case was rusted inside and out!)

Wish I kept that PSU so I could show you that Peace-vented Fuhjyyu. For now, at least till I find a better pic, here is an MSPaint approximation of what it looked like...

The ever-amazing (and ever-affordable) KY, Chemi-con's best kept secret.

I'll probably be the only person going to SteamOS once it gets out of beta (ha ha.)

            You mean something like this?
            They're everywhere in my PSU.

I got this PSU from an ancient NEC computer. It was taken out of service from a bank 12 years ago.
Bought this out of a storage shed sale, it was a beast, and the bank is long gone.
I took this home and fired it up, there were bank customer records all over the place.
Full account details all kinds of stuff, no one had wiped the drive???
Power supply still works but UL doesn't even list the number.
