    Power Supply...

My computer has been acting very strange lately with random restarts and what seems like a loss of power and many complete freezes of the system. I took apart my PSU today, made by TurboLink, and discovered these:

    Two blown capacitors...

I've looked at my motherboard twice with no sign of bad capacitors although I guess you can never be sure, right?

That looks like a Deer made powersupply, do yourself a favor and throw it in the junk and buy a decent powersupply instead

      Hi FordGT

I would take Per's advice on this one - Turbolink-branded PSUs are often Deer/LC Power under (a very thin) disguise. But Deer or not, Fuhjyyu caps (which in your case are definitely burst) are not among the best - and, judging from the picture, those solder joints between the output wiring and PCB appear weak too.

The problems you've been having are certainly very typical for a malfunctioning PSU.

Definitely will be buying a new one. This one is a 350W, should I go any higher?

I have an Athlon 1800+XP, DVD, CDRW, floppy, PCI modem which I don't use and a USB card, along with the HDD. Along with any wattage info, any good manufacturers? I've heard maybe Antec?

            No Antec for me then!

            What should I use?

Search www.ewiz.com for Enhance, Sparkle or FSP Group. They have a number of each in the 350~450W available. Some with APFC, more w/o PFC.

imho get a 12cm fan for quiet but good airflow. all FSP are good. the more expensive the better.

if you want a little bling get a bluestorm (50.99)
