Got a couple odd ATs today

Well, I acquired five AT power supplies today. A Hyena '230w' that was a clone of an Austin, both of which are LC-200C's. Cheap junk - that got squashed. (I posted the Austin in the pictorial thread.)

I also got a "Paoku P&C" 200w, which has Nippon Chemi-Cons for primary capacitors. Happy day!

The peculiar ones are made by "DVE", '94 through '96 or so. Two of them, the same model, have cases where the top, bottom, and back (inside) come off as a clamshell as opposed to the usual top and sides. One has two
"Tosin" caps and some CapXons, the other two beautiful Rubycons and also some small CapXon. The third, a normal top/side cover supply, has two "Nitsuko" primary caps with KM and CapXon little guys. The odd ones are 200w/250w surge, and the more normal supply is also a 200w.

Anyone heard of these companies? I didn't find much searching...

I'll include pictures once I find the camera.
You know there's something wrong when you open up a PSU and are glad to find Teapos.
Why I don't buy cheap cases!

There are many weird PSU brands, especially from the AT age. They sometimes use weird cap brands too. AT PSUs are usually very reliable - they're usually not heavily loaded.

Nice thing about some AT supplies is the aluminium frame panaflo fans they put in some of them, I still have a 120mm aluminium framed fan running out of a dead AT supply...
Ya'll think us folk from the country's real funny-like, dontcha?

DVE iirc is portuguese maker. Tosin caps look very much like UCC - I've seen some in the PSU of an old VCR.
        The great capacitor showdown!

KingWin ABT-650MM 650 Watt ATX PSU [PCB: SW8835REV:A]
          by momaka
For today's thread, I have a KingWin ABT-650MM ATX PSU. Official web page with the PSU specs is still up and can be found here:
          http://www.rmac.kingwin.com/products.../abt_650MM.asp

I just can't help it when I see a broken / for parts PSU on eBay that's listed for cheap and looks at least somewhat interesting. Well, OK, I won't lie – on the outside, this PSU looks anything but interesting. It's a plain gray box with colorful “spaghetti cables”.

What mostly drew me into buying it is its 2x PCI-E power connectors...

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
          by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

          A Couple Quick Battery Questions...
          by SolomonMan
          All,
I have 4 laptops all the same HP Elitebook model. These are now close to 8-10 years old now but they all were high end software development machines (ie 16GB ram (32 max) and all now have been upgraded to 1TB SSD). They are used throughout my house (family).

I recently bought a Software Defined Radio setup (SDR) and I will use it with one of the laptops but the batteries appear to be all dead.

The replacements seem reasonable at the sub $30 range (some as low as $20 shipped).

So I am thinking of replacing them all.

          So the question...

Laptop HP Omen 15-ek0023dx DA0G3EMBCD0 REV:D no signs of life
          by kamiewtype
I got this laptop in today, will not power on. No lights whatsoever, including charge light. I'm still pretty new to component level repair so bear with me. I measured 19.5V between +VA and ground, but no voltage on +VAD, BATDIS_G, or AD_ID.

I also measured the resistance from AD_ID to ground. I got 5.2kohm with red probe on ground, and 6kohm with black probe on ground (unsure which is correct). Is this what you would expect for a 200W charger? I wasn't able to find much information but what I did find suggested that 200W charger id pull-up resistor should be closer to 100kohm....

HP ZBook 200W power adapter blue pin question
          by piipo
Hi, I have non original 200W power adapter for my ZBook but it limits the computer power. It looks this depends on the resistor value between the middle pin and the main 19,5 rail. Can somebody with an original HP 200W blue pin power adapter to measure between the middle pin and the plus, the resistor value so I can apply the same to mine? On the attached image it's the resistance between the "positive high" and "positive low" - the pin and the inner side of the connector. Thank you so much!
