    Dynex 300 watt DX-PS300W

My brother has a never-used Dynex 300watt (DX-PS300W). I've gotten pretty cynical about power supplies. So I HAD to open it up and look around. I saw what I thought was pitiful things and voiced my criticism. Please, tell me if I over reacted.
All the output caps were "UNITED" and were 10volt, even on the 12 volt line. I replaced all of those with 16v Rubycon and added an extra on the 12volt line since there was an unused space for it. Replaced a couple little ones including on the 5vsb line with Nichicon. The bridge rectifier are 4 diodes and the mains caps are a little small but I can't do anything about those.
I have a ESR-micro 3.1 and all the caps check out. All the caps I have are good brands that I've scavenged from discarded/dead things.
Did I over react? Should I give Dynex back a tiny bit of credit from my dis'ing it?

Anyway... It works fine. I rewired the MB connectors to run a DELL GX110.
The only thing I'm still worried about is the sleeve bearing fan seizing and killing it and my work.

I thought Dynex was made by Huntkey . Huntkey aren't great (they do blow up if you pull more than or close to their rated wattage), but they aren't total gutless wonders either... or are they now? Judging by your description, this one wasn't all that great (or maybe it wasn't a Huntkey).

If the sleeve is cleaned well and oiled and if the fan is connected to a speed controller, it will probably be fine for the next 2-5 years, depending on how dusty your place is.

I've had cheap fans last for many years (and still do). Biggest problem they have is that most of them aren't properly lubricated from the factory and tend to seize early. Once I fix this, they do pretty good.

Dynex are made by whoever Best Buy is OEMing PSUs from at the time.
        It's a 'House Brand'.
The one thing you can be sure of is that it's a cheap build.

It's most likely a Huntkey. I've yet to see any Dynex or Rocketfish that isn't.

Statistically speaking, any Chinese unit is most likely a Huntkey, they are the biggest Chinese power supply OEM.

Trip light 2400 watt line conditioner bought used issue with low voltage oscillation going on between relays
            by sam_sam_sam
I found two capacitors on the board and one of the leads on one capacitor had bad soldering joint and the other joint connections not much better and there were several soldering joints that way to much flux around the joint redid several of them

The capacitors were a non brand that I did not recognize they got replaced and now it does not oscillating between relay but what concerns me a little bit is when the voltage is a little bit low the output voltage is around 130 volts and then drops down to 115 volts this happens around 105 to 108 volts if remember correctly

            Now...

Samsung UN50TU8000FXZC shows thin horizontal green line when warm
            by cubytus
            Hi to all,

I was given this TV, an entry-level 4K 50" set. Some have criticized its lack of contrast and relatively poor colour rendering, but for my needs, it's very decent.

I reset everything to factory settings, but this line keeps on fading in and out when watching a streaming channel from the Tizen firmware. Interestingly, it only happens when TV is warm, after about 1h45 of it being turned on.

Watching a movie from an external source doesn't trigger the line as easily (needs 2 hours), and from a normal viewing distance, is hardly noticeable. It...

Is it okay to replace 1/2 watt resistor with 1 watt resistor in AC/DC adapter?
            by chth96
I have purchased an 100-240v AC/5v 2a DC adaptor from aliexpress, and a month ago It smelled burning when I plugin it powerstrip.
Since then, This AC/DC adaptor have been out of order.
But A few days ago,I replace 0.5 watt resistor with 1 watt resistor(1ohm) in this adapter.
After replacing resistor,It succeed to recharge all of android phone. And When I measure voltage on the two pins of USB port,It shows 5.5v
Is it okay to replace 1/2 watt resistor with 1 watt resistor in AC/DC adapter?
And Is there any possibility that it will suddenly explode as well as to be out...

Vizio E701i-A3 fixed but now has red vertical line
            by otaku_nut
Hi all, I tried searching the site for answers but I'm a bit over my head understanding some of what might apply and what doesn't, so please be patient with me. I used Freakaftr8's fix to remove the left driver board to restore picture to a black screen with sound Vizio E701i-A3. After doing so, I now have a large red vertical stripe down the center of the screen. The fix did require getting another t-con board from online, I ordered it before I knew about the mosfit fix for the old t-con board. I have tried cleaning the cable connections to the t-con board. I swapped the cables going from...

            Kogan - KALED65XU9220STB - Blue Vertical Line
            by TrueSword88
            Hi all.

I have a Kogan 65' LCD Panel with a thin blue vertical line (top to bottom) on left hand side of panel.
The line just happens to coincide with the end of COF and start of the next COF (attached).

The line is permanent no matter what I've tried. I've tried pressure testing the panel (top to bottom) and all over, I didn't notice any difference with the line, either temporary or semi-permanent.

Also tried unplugging all flex cables, cleaned with isopropyl then re-inserting to no avail - line remains.

            Hoping to fix...
