i think it is expensive for what it is.

capxon caps and teapo are not too bad. interesting to see that they have their own brand fan. they used to be only OEM manufacturer but now have their own brand PSUs.

plus points are : nice cable mesh which is where you enter the premium category and price and of course the black finish which unfortunately is damaged very easily. then the dual fans which are the usual quiet types and typically not that powerful.
the 24pin atx connector is one of the new types. i was not familiar with them until recently. you detach a block which has the last 4 pins and then it becomes a 20pin connector. This is the same as the ISO PSU which i showed previously. this is very nice for older boards because the usual bulky 24pin-20pin converter makes it practically impossible to tidy the power cable nice using cable ties against the case.
you know the usual sticker that you break and void your warranty. well this one had not only that but it had 2 quality control stickers covering screws also.
i dont agree with the sticker policy. it is not on all psus. i recall my zalman which didnt have that, so after checking it out inside i was able to rma after some component detached inside a year later. anyway since this one is for me its gonna get recapped anyway so no rma. the heatsink design and lack of too much glue means it will be an easy job.
looks kinda like a fortron.
i might check out Tagan in the future if i build a new home pc

Re: HEC Ace Power 480W
The two 1200uF 200V caps seem like a decent size for this wattage, and the heatsinks aren't too bad for 480W. What are the ratings on the rectifiers? (My L&C supply I scrapped had undersized output rectifiers).
Watch out for glossy paint and cable wraps on power supplies - they can mislead you into thinking it is a higher quality product.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.Comment

Re: HEC Ace Power 480W
2x 1200uF 200V is pretty big capacitance. My 2x Sparkle 250W each had 2x 470uF 200V IIRC.Comment

Re: HEC Ace Power 480W
The secondary capacitors aren't very large or numerous. The primary caps are generous, the secondary inductors are good-sized, the main transformer is a little small. My estimate - rating is slightly over-specified, it's probably 300-400W.
The build quality is excellent - it's a good starting point for recapping into a very reliable, long-life server-grade PSU.Comment

Re: HEC Ace Power 480W
willawake,
This looks like a really good psu as I have a strong preference for dual inline fan designs. Can you tell me if both fans are 25mm thick models? I ask becase my antec smartpower 2.0 uses an 80x15mm as intake and an 80x25mm exhaust fan. My fsp530-60gna uses an 80x20mm and an 80x25mm fan. They appear to be 80x25mm fans, but it's a little hard to tell.
Also, does it remain quiet under load or do the fans tend to ramp up? Several reviews have indicated that it is quieter than most. TIA - FGComment

Thx. I'll be on my best behavior here. Can't think of of better source for psu information than from guys who know how to repair them.Comment

Re: HEC Ace Power 480W
ok Frank, you got me interested enough to take a look
in - 80x20 HEC FD1280205B-2N
out - 80x20 HEC FD1280205B-2A
there is room to put an 80x25 for out only. but of course if sourcing a replacement is difficult i would put an 80x25 for the other one on the outside.
regarding noise, well its in my gaming box which has many fans. when it was first in my main box i recall the temperature of the air expelled being quite cool without excessive sound. i prefer not to have excessively silent type psus which are heating up the case too much. i would recommend you to ask someone into silent stuff though, in my opinion it is quiet.
you can also check the Tagan TG480-U22 480WComment

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

by sam_sam_samI have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump
One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy... -
