Latest FSPxxx-xxGLC/GLN models have relatively small heat sinks. What's going on?
By all accounts the new FSP models are excellent. How then are they getting away with smaller heat sinks?. I always thought a heavier psu was an indicator of quality.

Re: HEC Ace Power 480W
My preference is a dual inline fan setup, but I wouldn't say this is always the best way to go. The antec p180 case is the actualization of the best ideas at spcr, and it was designed with the seasonic super silencer in mind, a single 80mm fan design (no longer made).
Two fans in series doubles the pressure and since heatsinks and other psu components offer a lot of air flow impedance, this is an advantage. The two fan concept in the enermax noisetaker, for example, does not really exploit basic fan concepts. The result is often psu exhaust...

Re: HEC Ace Power 480W
Thx. I'll be on my best behavior here. Can't think of of better source for psu information than from guys who know how to repair them.

Re: HEC Ace Power 480W
willawake,
This looks like a really good psu as I have a strong preference for dual inline fan designs. Can you tell me if both fans are 25mm thick models? I ask becase my antec smartpower 2.0 uses an 80x15mm as intake and an 80x25mm exhaust fan. My fsp530-60gna uses an 80x20mm and an 80x25mm fan. They appear to be 80x25mm fans, but it's a little hard to tell.
Also, does it remain quiet under load or do the fans tend to ramp up? Several reviews have indicated that it is quieter than most. TIA - FG
